These WebPages are the result of a collaboration between two cousins. One in North Carolina the other in North Dakota. Before we met we were both at dead ends in our research. GENEALOGIES OF VIRGINIA FAMILIES Vol IV N - T William & Mary Quarterly p. 215-6 The Muster of Inhabitants shows on 24 Jan 1624 at Necke of Land, Charles City: Luke Boyse aged 44 in the Edwine May 1619; Alice his wife in the Bona Nova April 1622; Their Servants; Robert Hallom aged 23 in the Bonaventure August 1620; JOSEPH ROYALL aged 22 in the Charitie July 1622 (Hotten, p. 202). On 11 Nov. 1635 there was granted to Hannah Boyse daughter and heir of Luke Boyse, late of Henrico, 300 a. in that county, adjoining the lands of her mother, Alice Edloe, due in right of her father for transporting persons, including Robert Hallom and JOSEPH ROYALL. There was a regrant 13 July 1637 (Nugent, pp. 40, 59; V Va Mag. 97, 212; XXIV W & M (1) 128). A COURT at James Citty the 19th. of February 1626, being sent Mr. Doctor Pott. Capt. Smyth. Capt. Matthews. Mr. Secretary. Mr. ffarrar. It is ordered that there shall be a warrant sent up unto Sherley Hundred in ye Maine, that John Ewins & Jane Hill should be sent downe to James-Citty, & there to be examined concerning such leud behavior as hath bin betweene them. The Beatys and Littles of Ireland and India
BEATY I am researching the BEATY family, originally from Ireland. From family folklore Francis BEATY was born in Tullamore, Ireland in 1757 . Francis and his wife Catherine gave birth to three sons, John, Francis and Henry, probably in Stoke Damerel, Devon, while he served in the Royal Navy. In 1820 Francis and 1821 Henry, joined the Honourable East India Company Army as Cadets in Bengal, India. The elder son of Francis, named Francis Henry BEATY, and his wife Caroline Ophelia (n?e Sheels), had fifteen children all born in India. Five of the sons served in the Indian Police. The Beaty family finally left India in 1948. The cities in India and Pakistan that feature in the family history are Lahore, Jhansie, Karachi, Landour, Mussoorie, Quetta, Rawlpindi and Simla. LITTLE/LYTTLE I am also researching the LITTLE/LYTTLE family from Northern Ireland. In 1839 Andrew LITTLE was born in the Parish of Montiaghs, Lurgan, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, to Thomas and Mary (n?e Wilson) LITTLE. In 1858 he joined the 27th Inniskilling Regiment and sailed to India. He remained in India and retired from the army in 1894. He died in Dehra Dun, India in 1926. He had five children Mary Anne, Thomas Wilson, William John (my grandfather) Edward and Andrew. The surname spelling changed to LYTTLE with the children. The cities in India/Pakistan that feature in the family history are Dehra Dun, Jhansie, Karachi,Lahore, Meerut, North West Province,Peshawar and Simla. They lived originally in Greenwich Village, NY, and later some lived in Brooklyn, NY. Luke was in the laundry business. MOORE family from Ireland. TIMOTHY MOORE (1864-1928) was born in Garryheaken, Co. Limerick. He emigrated to US and lived in Red Hook section of Brooklyn. He married MARGARET ENGLISH in 1888 there and had six children. His six siblings were Margaret, John, Thomas, Patrick, Michael, William Moore. Their parents were THOMAS MOORE and CATHERINE RYAN. CHARLES A. HENNIS, born in 1841 in either Canada, England or Ireland? He emigrated to US in 1970 from Canada, was naturalized in 1874 and married MARGARET IRWIN OR IRVING of either Canada or NY. They lived on Columbus Ave. NYC per 1900 Census. Most of their descendants live in New Jersey. |
