Origin of parker, Meaning of parker

Origin: Parker as a surname, is occupational in origin, and refers to "the parker," the guardian, keeper or custodian of a park. Found in every early register all over England, this surname has almost become a rival of Smith, Wright, Green, Brown, Jones and Robinson for numbers. In the Hundred Rolls of 1273, we find John Parcar, of County Dorset, Adam le Parker, of County Norfolk, and Peter le Parker, of County York.

Origin of parker, Meaning of parker

Origin: The Parker family of "Macclesfield," Isle of Wight County, Virginia, were probably from Macclesfield Hundred, County Chester, England, where a family of this name were long seated. Their home, "Macclesfield," appears to have been named before the Earldom of Macclesfield was created, and was probably named for their old home in England.
