My search starts with the marriage of Wyatt Parker Lochabay from Georgia and Delilah Caroline Davidson of Alabama, in Perry, county Alabama on September 19, 1847 and Robert Elijah Beasley born on April 14,1863, and Mary Elizabeth O'Rear born April 9,1866, she died before 1917,also Emerson Cooper Austin, born August 19,1853, in Kentucky and Lucinda Marillo Thompson, November 1, 1856 in Flatonia,Texas.They were married there on May 27,1875, also Eddie A. Shipman died ca 1869 in either Bell or Coryell Co., TX. Daniel SAGE was born ca 1803 in KY, married Jane DYE, born ca 1816 in VA, and migrated to TX by 1850. Daniel and family were found on the 1850 Dallas Co., TX census. Joseph R. BROOKE was born ca 1794 in MD, married Sarah PERRY(daughter of Walter PERRY and Elizabeth PHILLIPS) in GA and migrated to MS by 1840. Joseph died ca 1856 in Lauderdale Co., MS and is buried in LOCUST GROVE CEMETERY in GA. Isaac YATES/YEATES was born ca 1860 in AR, married Becky ADAMS ca 1880 and remained in AR unitl after 1910 when he moved to MS. Becky was not counted on the 1910 Prairie Co., AR census leaving me to assume she had died by this time. Issac died 1928 in Vicksburg, Warren Co., MS. |

Descendants of Nathaniel Harriman (Herriman) Ontario, Canada
Nathaniel Harriman was either born in Hadley, MA or Norwich, CT in 1758. He married Bethania Snow in Hardwick, MA in 1781 and they had 9 children. We believe him to be the son of Nathaniel Harriman b. Oct 9, 1723,the brother of Jonathan b. 1753, the grandson of Matthew Harriman born August 16, 1652 and the great grandson of Leonard Harriman. Nathaniel received a land grant of 200 acres near the town of Cobourg, Hamilton Township, Northumberland County, Ontario (then called Hamilton in Upper Canada) on September 1, 1797. He may have been referred to as a Simcoe Loyalist. We have recently added information on his brother, Jonathan who moved from Vermont to Sandy Creek, NY. Diadamia was the youngest daughter of Nathaniel and Bethania. She was reported to be stolen from the lake shore near Cobourg, Ontario by Mississauga Indians on June 7, 1797 just 4 weeks after the family arrived from Rupert, Vermont. A poem written by Bethania entitled The Lost Child was meant to tell her parents, Jesse and Mary Snow,(nee Eaton)in Hardwick, MA, about the loss of Diadamia. Nathaniel, his second son, is the direct line ascendant to the author. He was a well respected person and served in the Provincial Dragoons during the war of 1812 -1815. His younger brother, Luther, was also in the Canadian Militia during that war. Luther then became a physician and was married twice; the first to Sarah White (5 children) (Sarah may have died as a result of childbirth complications) and the second to Abigail Dean. That marriage produced 7 children. Two sons, Weston Leroy and Elbridge also became physicians. After serving on the Union side during the Civil War, as surgeons, they both returned to establish practices in Lindsay, Ontario. Elbridge then moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota some time after 1879. The Harriman History (Feudalism to Freedom)by Lois Ware Thurston,comments on the Harriman Name. The name Harriman was not uncommon in England, suggesting there was no one Harriman family, but several unrelated families with the same name. Some of the earliest Harriman records were found in Uldale and it was only in these records that another Harriman with the Christian name Leonard was found. Uldale is in Cumberland County (the Lake District) in Northern England near the Scottish border (and recent center of the outbreak of foot and mouth disease) There are variant spellings of Harriman, Herriman, Harryman, Herryman, as in those days people often spelt a name the way it sounded. Charles W. Bardsley, author of ?A Dictionary of English and Welsh Surnames?, claims the name Harryman is an occupational name meaning servant of Henry which when spoken sounds like Harry?. When the Harriman?s left Uldale it was likely to find a better way of life, rather than religious freedom. Leonard and John Harriman found themselves caught up in the Great Migration of the 1630's. and arrived with Reverend E Rogers in New England in 1638. They set out from Rawley, Yorkshire, England. James Dennison and MaryAnn McBride. They came by boat from Cork, Ireland around 1858-1860 to Inglewood, Ontario, Canada. They had a large family. Some were born in Cork, Ireland and some in Canada. (Names of siblings were: Elizabeth, James, Susanna, William, Martha, Margaret, Alice, Robert, Joseph and Thomas). William is my ancestor. William married Annie Elizabeth (Nash) Dowswell. Her mother was Lady Elizabeth Anne Nash and father Sir John Nash of England, their son, William Wesley, married Annie Josephine Brown of Edinburgh, Scotland.(These are my grandparents) Annie Brown's father was Adam Brown married to Anne Kelly (believe she was from Ireland). Anne Kelly or Kelley came from a large family. The mother deceased and the father brought the family from Ireland to Edinburgh, Scotland. |

The Ivy's of Va, S.C.and MS
Isaiah (or Josiah) Ivy born 1798 in S.C. He married Patricia Miles and had 4 children (2 more by a later marriage). His son Enoch Jefferson Ivy (b. 1831) went to MS between 1850-1860, married Elizabeth McBride. Their son, Joseph Sephus Ivy (b. 1868) was my Great-Grandfather. Before that is speculation, but we believe we are descended from Adam Ivy of VA. He and his wife, Elizabeth, had at least 6 children. Their son Gilbert Ivy had 4 children. His son Henry (wife=Mary) had 4 children. Their son Joseph or Josiah (b. 1728) and his wife, Elizabeth Travis had 4 children. Their daughter Mary married her cousin, John Ivey. They are the parents of Isaiah. |

My mother's family the Richardsons and Reveys have resided in Mommouth County NJ USA since the 1700's. Her grandmother immigrated from Ireland, being the first child born in the New World in 1850's. The father, Howard Thorn was originally from Barbados and had gone to England and then to Ireland where he met and married Margaret McBride. They had nine children. Ira E Pearce born 1805 in Camden Co NC and his brothers. His brothers were Elisha M Pearce, Samuel Pearce, Jeremiah Simmons Pearce, John Pearce, and Tom Pearce. Tom Pearce married Dorothy (Dolly) Culpepper and had a son named Peter C Pearce. Ira Pearce also had a sister named Polly who married a John Hodgin in Henderson Co Tenn in 1843. Aperently he also had a half brother named James P. Marchant who moved to Dyer Co. Tenn. Samuel Pearce lived in Mifflin Tenn. Jeremiah S Pearce moved to Fayette Co Tenn in 1841. John Pearce lived in Holly Springs, Miss. Elisha was a local preacher in the Methodist Church and lived at least part of the time in South Mills, NC. Their parents were James Pearce and Sarah (Sally) McBride. |
