Origin of lind, Meaning of lind

Origin: Linde was the name of the linde tree and any connection to that may have been taken by the person, example, there were Linder gun manufacturers in the 12th century who may have worked the linde tree into gun stocks. The suffix, ner, refered to those that lived in the northern part of the country. This information was found in a book at the air force library in Guam by my brother. Unfortunately, he does not remember the title nor publisher of the book
