About 1745 Stephen Bates was born in New York and he married in 1769. He and his wife, Elizabeth, had a son, Stephen Bates, who was baptized according to Rumbout Presbyterian Church records in Duchess County, New York in 1772. This Stephen Bates married Elizabeth Renne in 1802. Their son,Stephen Lyman Bates, was born in 1807 in Owego,NY and died in the Rockford, Illinois area in 1860.His son Levi Decatur Bates was born in 1836 in Owego,NY. His son Mark General Bates was born in 1886 in Long Pine,Nebraska. My father, Edward M. Bates was born in 1920 in Washington State. my paternal grandmother, Ollie Deweese, had family in Wa, Ne, Kentucky, and Pa after leaving Holland. My mothers maiden name was Kiichle and her grandparents immigrated from Germany to Ohio, Wisconsin, Idaho and Washington. Most of her relatives may have gone to Canada. My maternal grandmothers family were the Claytons who were from Wa, Missouri, and Maryland. My wifes maiden name is May and her relatives come from the Spokane, Washington area. Her maternal grandparents had the last name of Marks and Fleenor and lived in Spokane also. We are also looking at the Strand families of Oregon and Wisconsin as they are related through marriage as are the Smack family of Philadelphia and New Jersey. Other related families through marriage are the Ruby's of Iowa and Illinois and Knotts of Oregon. |

Edward Bently Gilder, Head Maggie Reese Gilder, Wife Alice Gilder, Daughter, born June 29th, 1896 Gertrude Gilder, Daughter, born about 1894 Edward and Maggie had one more daughter in 1901...Marian, and then Maggie died when Marian was 4 or 5 (1905-1906). Edward was born around 1864 and immigrated to this country from England around 1890. His wife was Maggie Reese, born around 1874 in Philadelphia. Maggie died around 1905 in Philadelphia. Maggie had one sister Elsie. Frederick Buchler married Marian Gilder on May 26th, 1924. Frederick was born in Pennsylvania on Dec 11th, 1887. He had two older brothers, Augustus and William. All of them were born in Pennsylvania, but either one or both of their parents were born in Germany. Frederick's birth certificate lists his parents as Joseph and Mrs. Biehler, but his Baptismal Certificate lists his parents as Frederick Bichler and Elizabeth Fillers, and still another record (his Funeral book) lists his Parents as Augusta and Elizabeth Buchler. feudal Dorset and its yeoman farmers (the Balstons), to maritime Fifeshire at the time of King James 111 (the Woods, who number among their ilk the celebrated sea Admiral Sir Andrew Wood of Largo and the renowned Victorian explorer Captain John Wood), to the Tower of London in the early eighteenth century and its tipple loving Master Armourer John Grimer, and to rural Gloucestershire where my earliest traced Trinder ancestor is found farming in Bishops Cleeve, Nr. Cirencester. Later travels in time brought me to the Pinwills of Ermington, Devonshire, including The Reverend Edmund Pinwill and his seven highly talented daughters who set up their own carving business. Their ancesters included the Rashleighs of Menabilly, Cornwall including Jonathan Rashleigh of Civil War fame, made famous by Daphne Du Maurier's novel The King's General. THE STRICKER's were German farmers living near the Volga River in Russia, who emigrated to Canada then to the United States. |
