The Goodwin Purcell family of British Columbia
ancestors of my ggfather Goodwin Purcell.He immigrated from Ireland in 1849 aboard the Waterloo from Liverpool to New York.He travelled to California, then to British Columbia where he arrived in 1849.on his marriage certificate he lists his birthplace as Kilpatrick, parish of Ballyclogh, county Cork, and his parents names as Charles and Catherine Purcell. His first born son was named Charles, and when he died in 1882, his next son was also named Charles which would fit in with the Irish naming pattern.His second born daughter was named Catherine.He also had children named George, Albert,Mary,and John. my mothers side. Goodwin Purcell was her grandfather, born in Kilpatrick,parish of Ballyclogh.PLU Mallow,County Cork on August 15 1819,to Charles and Catherine Purcell. He emigrated to B.C. about 1847, believed to be travelling with Francis Wade and Robert McKamey from the same area,via California.(obviously a gold seeker} He died in 1907 at Port Douglas, on Harrison Lake,and is buried there. William Alfred and Sarah Gertrude Beaird
William Alfred Beaird was born July 21, 1880 and I believe in Mallikoff, Texas. William's father was Benjamin Franklin Beaird. His mother's maiden name was Wright. I believe they had 3 boys, William, John, and George as to the oldest I am not sure. Sarah Gertrude Banks (known as Gertrude) was born December 21, 1874 I believe somewhere in Georgia. My grandmother had a maiden sister Mary Elizabeth Banks (known as Lizzy), she also had 2 brothers called Bud and Babe their legal names are not known to me. my grandparents had 8 children. Lillie, William (Rufus), James (Rex), J.B.(my father), Ruby, Cecil, twins Ella (Faye) and Elzie (Bud). Only Bud (Elzie) is still alive and he resides in Corsicana. The Beaird family pretty much stayed in the Corsicana, Blooming Grove area. A number of the Beaird's still reside in the Corsicana area. My grandfather passed away March 27, 1926 in Mallikoff, TX and is also buried in Mallikoff, my grandmother passed away September 20, 1958 in Corsicana, TX and is buried in the Oakwood Cemetary in Corsicana. The address where my grandmother and my Aunt Faye lived was 602 No. 14th St., Corsicana. I was told the Banks part of our family traveled by covered wagon from GA to TX. James Dennison and MaryAnn McBride. They came by boat from Cork, Ireland around 1858-1860 to Inglewood, Ontario, Canada. They had a large family. Some were born in Cork, Ireland and some in Canada. (Names of siblings were: Elizabeth, James, Susanna, William, Martha, Margaret, Alice, Robert, Joseph and Thomas). William is my ancestor. William married Annie Elizabeth (Nash) Dowswell. Her mother was Lady Elizabeth Anne Nash and father Sir John Nash of England, their son, William Wesley, married Annie Josephine Brown of Edinburgh, Scotland.(These are my grandparents) Annie Brown's father was Adam Brown married to Anne Kelly (believe she was from Ireland). Anne Kelly or Kelley came from a large family. The mother deceased and the father brought the family from Ireland to Edinburgh, Scotland. |

ASHINHURST/WILLIAMSON ARKANSAS & OKLAHOMA
The Ashinhurst's came from North Carolins, thru Kentucky where they stayed for many years. Some of them went to Missouri, some to Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, and various states. The Williamson's originated in Virginia, came thru Tennesses and on to Northwest Arkansas. Watts originated with Trader John Watts and the Cherokees. Our branch of the Watts settled in Arkansas, but some came on to Oklahoma. |

Samuel Ashton came to the USA from England in the early 1800's and settled in Rochester, NY and then moved outside of Rochester to Parma, NY. The Kelley's came from Ireland through Canada and settled in Corning, NY. Cathy is the 12th great-grandaughter of the Pilgrim, John Alden on her father's side. John Plympton, was an important man in colonial Mass, he was also the only relative we know who was burned at the stake by Indians, came over in 1640. Phenias Pratt arrived in 1622 on the Sparrow. My parents are Dewey F. Stephenson and Verniece Worrell Stephenson from Crossett, AR. My maternal grandparents were Thomas William (Willie) Worrell and Addie Matilde (Mae)Goodman Worrell of Monticello, AR. They were married in Bismark, AR. He is known to have a brother, Colonel Worrell, and at least 18 half-siblings. Several of them are believed to have Thomas or William included in their names. His father was believed to own property in Louisiana at one time. She was born in Bismark, AR. She had one sister, Vaudie, and one brother. Her father and brother both died the same day. They had eight children: Eldridge Collins Worrell (deceased)of California, Jay Leslie Worrell of Texas, Lloyd Worrell of Texas, Don Worrell (deceased) of Monticello, AR, V. C. Worrell of Missouri, Floyd Worrell (deceased at approx. age 5), Lessie Worrell Jones, and Verniece Worrell Stephenson. My paternal grandparents were Miles Bart Stephenson and Rachel Nannie Halley-Stephenson. They lived in Louisiana and Arkansas. They had a total of six children.
