Description: Looking for a connection to Samuel SHANKS died Aug. 8th 1854 in Sunbury New Brunswick Canada. Was married to Francis Langan (Frances's father was a stowaway on board ship that landed in the States and he made his way to Canada by cover of darkness. The family may have originated in Roscommon Ireland.) who died 5 to 8 hours before him. Many children some being Hugh Hastings SHANKS, Mary SHANKS, Georgiana SHANKS, James SHANKS, Samuel SHANKS.
James SHANKS reported to have died at about 35 leaving a wife and small child. Samuel SHANKS was a seaman and went off to joing the war in 1860 in the states never to be heard from again. Hugh SHANKS came west and seems to have severed all ties in 1854 when he returned home and signed all property over to his brother Samuel.
Sam Senior who died in 1854 was from Ireland came to Canada in 1818 (about) with his father William and siblings Sarah Dixon SHANKS, Jane SHANKS, Robert SHANKS, William SHANKS. They may have come from Dromore Ireland but so far I don't have a connection. Any help???
