Description: My maternal ggmother was b in Germany perhaps in Hattendorf in July, 1865. Parents are unknown. Had several siblings who also came to America in 1860-1880s to Will Co IL and to Cedar Bluffs, Saunders Co., Nebraska and into Fillmore Co., NE.
She was m at least twice with children from each marriage.
1. Jakob/Jacob/Jake von Krug from dessen, Prussia b July, 1848/1849
m about 1882 in Germany. 4 daughters , 1 son born:
a. Emma Kate Krug (my gm) b 10 Jan 1883
b. Caroline " Lena" b 10 Sept 1884
c. William Krug b 1885
d. Anna Emelia b in June 1887
e. Ida Emilie Sophia Krug b 14 June 1889
All these c were b in Cedar Bluffs, Saunders Co., NE.
Other c born: Bertha Krug & twin brother, Henry Fred Krug on 31 Aug 1891-not sure where.
Husband #2 was Henry William Gloke on 24 Dec 1895 in West Point, Cuming Co NE
2 sons born: Otto C Gloke in April 1896
Edward Gloke 19 January 1898 --both sons b near West Point, Cuming Co NE.
Karoline d 12 May 1900 in Crowell, Dodge Co NE Funeral held in German Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Point and she was buried in unmarked grave at Mt Hope Cemetery near West Point, NE. Children Henry, Otto, William, Bertha and Edward were put up for adoption.
At present, I don't know what families adopted Bertha or William. William was m to a Theresa and was found on a land record in SD in 1906.

Karoline had these siblings: Sophia, 2 more sisters, & brothers Will (William), Henry, Carl and another brother-all living in Iowa. Will lived in Estherville, Emmet Co., Iowa area.
Sister Louisa married Jacob Krug's brother George. They were m in IL. Came to Saunders Co about 1880-1882. They bought land here. In 1882 or 1883 their siblings bought the land from them--Karoline & Jacob Krug.

Description: Hello. I am researching my husband's maternal grandmother's McEwen family that was in Panola County from the late 1800's until they moved to Memphis in the early 1900's.
This is what I have so far:

Virgil McEWEN. Born abt 1846 and died abt 1935. Virgil married Nannie HARRISON. Nannie was born abt 1848, and died in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, on 31 Aug 1937. I believe that Virgil's mother was Eliza Rasberry (Rasbury?) McEwen but cannot confirm this. Eliza Rasberry (Rasbury) McEwen is buried in the Black Jack Cemetery in Panola Co, MS.

Virgil and Nannie had the following children:
Virgil Harrison (1881-1970) and Carlene (no other info on her).

Virgil Harrison McEWEN. Born 12 Jun 1881 in Batesville, Panola Co., MS. Virgil Harrison died in Bradenton, Florida, on 11 Oct 1970.
In 1901 Virgil Harrison first married Audrey BROOKS, daughter of ??.. Audrey, born in 1885 in MS and died in Memphis, Shelby Co., TN, on 24 Dec 1928.
Virgil Harrison and Audrey had the following children:

Natalie Lucille McEWEN. Born 22 Jul 1903 in MS and died in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in May 1992. Lucille married Albert ROCKHOLT Sr, who was born in 1895 in TN. They had the following children: Albert (1923-) , Lois (1925-), Margie L (1927-)

Jimmie Inez McEWEN. Born 14 Jan 1905 in MS, and died in Memphis, Shelby Co, TN, on 5 Jun 1974. Jimmie Inez married Herman Eugene SURBER, son of John Benjamin Aaron SURBER (28 Feb 1854-7 Sep 1938) & Eliza Josephine ROBISON (17 Jun 1864-14 Jun 1943). Herman Eugene was born 10 May 1904 in Quito, TN and died in Memphis, Shelby Co, TN, on 30 Jun 1987. They had the following children: Ruby Mae (1926-1999), Raymond Neal, Earl Howard, and Jim Eugene.

Lillian E. McEWEN was born in 1907. (I have no idea about her and our grandmother Nellie doesn't remember her as she must have died before Nellie was born. She was on the 1910 census and not on the 1920 census.)

Wesley A. McEWEN. Born in 1908 in MS and died in Memphis, Shelby Co, TN, before 1960. Wesley A. married Rosemary unknown and they had one child: Rose Marie.

Jacqueline McEWEN was born about 1913. No further information is known.

Myrtle McEWEN. Born about 1914. Myrtle married George WILSON.

Helen McEWEN. Born on 28 Apr 1915. Helen died in Memphis, Shelby Co, TN, in Sep 1979. Helen married Van BOWDEN (13 Jun 1909 - Jun 1987). They had one child: Delores
Gerald McEWEN. Born about 1917. No further information is known.

Nellie Carlene McEWEN. Born 5 Sep 1918 in Memphis, Shelby Co, TN. On 28 Sep 1935 Nellie married Lyle William HAMMER Sr (Born on 27 Oct 1916 in Memphis, Shelby Co, TN.), son of Fred 'Fritz' Wayne HAMMER Sr (1878-1954) & Ida Mae McMASTERS (Jun 1878 - 18 Jul 1936), in Memphis, Shelby Co, TN.
