Description: ON 4-12-1949 William Davis married Gilly Smith William in Lawrence Co., MO. They are my great great grandparents. Is there any place that his parents names would be recorded? Say, when they got married? The census' says he was born in NC or TN, one in the 1850 census and the other in the 1860. He was killed by bushwhackers in 1862. I don't know if he was in the military or just a sympathizer. Any information on my William Davis' parentage would be appreciated. They had four children, James S., Sarah E., William H. and Gilly Ann. When William was killed, his wife Gilly S. Davis married Ransom Blades 6-14-1863. Their son James S. joined the Army 8-14-1862 in Springfield, at the age of 12 (I can only assume his father was dead by then). He married Anna Goins in 1870 in Indian Territory. It is believe that Sarah E. died before 1870. William H. married Sarah J. Hood in 1875. Gilly Ann married Samuel M. Norman in 1873. Much of the information on the children, other than James S., was graciously provided by the Williams family.
If there is anyone who does research that would be willing to work on this? I know there were other Davis families in the Lawrence Co., MO area and some killed by Bushwakers, but I don't know if they are related to my William. Thanks for reading this book and in advance if you can find someone. Someone has a long lost William Davis born in 1820 either in NC or TN. Tomi Stefanos, Dallas, TX.

In 1881 Amanda Taylor, Jennie Taylor, and Willie Taylor were dismissed by letter from the Ripley Methodist Evangelical Church South in Tippah Co. This may have been when they moved to Lee County.
