The Robert M. Armstrong Family Home Page
Armstrong was a famous border family in Scotland, which chiefly inhabited an area known as Liddesdale. The Armstrongs were the most feared and dangerous clan on the whole borders area and at its height, in the 1500s, could put three thousand men in the saddle. After the death of the tenth chief in 1610 the Armstrongs scattered. My branch of the clan tree starts around 1643, with the earliest known surviving baptisms and marriages recorded in the small parrish of St. Ninians, Stirling County, Scotland. From there we go to Manchester, England and than to the States in 1906.
