The Atkinson McKinnon Home Page
InterneTree: Frederick Stuart Atkinson On the McKinnon, Stuart and Scottish Clans sides, the heritage of Mary Queen of Scott's and the Battle of Culloden Moor and have deeply affected our Scotch family history. Because of religious persecution, battles and wars, our Scotch ancestors ended up hastily leaving Scotland, from The Isle Of Skye, on the Ark and Dove and immigrated to Prince Edward Island. The Atkinson Family Tree ancestors emigrated from Europe (England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Holland, France and Germany, Italy, Switzerland). Others came from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania in particular. This is not unusual because the Maritime Provinces were a haven for those loyal to the British Crown and setters were promised substantial land grants from the British government to move to the Maritimes after the expulsion of the Acadians. It is interesting to note that our family also includes Iroquois and/or Micmac Native American women marrying at least two separate ancestors in the US and Nova Scotia. Another ancestor came to Duxbury MA area in the 1621, on the ship that came after the Mayflower called the Fortune. On the Atkinson side, my grandfathers 5th great grandfather Benjamin Allen left New England and fought in the French and Indian War on the British side in Nova Scotia. He was badly wounded losing a leg, was discharged and sent back to New England, settling and starting a family in Kingston, MA. He later went back to Halifax, NS and joined in the ill-fated Eddy Rebellion, and after the Eddy Rebellion failed, he became a wanted man. He eventually joined the Tories in Nova Scotia during the American Revolutionary War. He would have been hung as a traitor if he returned to his home and family in Kingston, MA. We are also descended from Col. Hezekiah King and Col. Benoni Danks who were infamous participants in the Eddy Rebellion. On the Atkinson side we are related to Presidents John Adams, Samuel Adams and William Howard Taft, Poets Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Ralph Waldo Emerson, Betty Ford and singer Ann Murray to name a few. The Arthur-Kelly-Cashen families of Baltimore Maryland
John Pierce Arthur immigrated to the United States with his wife and three children in 1849. In Matchett?s Baltimore Directory for 1853 it is noted that he was a woolen factor and lived at 71 Potter. He died in Baltimore, MD in 1853 at age 35 of typhoid pneumonia. He was buried on the 9th of March in St. Patrick?s Cemetery Yard, Fells Point. John P. Arthur was born in Castle Connell, County Limerick, Ireland; his wife Maria Maroney was born in County Clare; their parents were in the Wool business; they came to ?America? in 1849, first arriving in New Orleans and then to Baltimore in 1850 where they lived on Hawk Street; three children were born in County Clare (J. Thomas Arthur, Elizabeth Arthur Frederick, and Frank Arthur). Elizabeth Frist Gutman, (Bess Gutman) was the daughter of Margaret Ann Arthur Frist. Margaret Ann was born in Baltimore in 1850. The earliest documentation of the Arthur family is the passenger list of the ship Forfarshire that sailed from Liverpool, England and arrived in New Orleans on December 28, 1948. The ship?s register shows the names of John (30) and Mary Arthurs (30), Anne Arthurs (32), James Arthurs (20), Thomas (7), Bridget (5) and Francis (3). While the register shows that the ship arrived in New Orleans on Dec 28, 1848 a close examination indicates that the ship?s register was completed on that date at Liverpool. Arrival in New Orleans would probably have been four or five weeks later in February 1849. It is believed that Bridget Arthurs was Elizabeth Arthur Frederick. Although later accounts point to her birth in New Orleans our research concludes that she was born in Ireland. The conclusion is that many females received the name Bridget when they were born in Ireland and her name was also Elizabeth. The Kelly family emigrated from Ireland to Philadelphia PA. Anna Clark Kelly came from Newry, Co Down, where she was educated in a convent school. She came to this country with her sister who remained in Philadelphia. Thomas Kelly came from CO Louth in Ireland. Thomas and Anna met in this country and were married in Philadelphia. Three children were born in Philadelphia (Mary Jane-1857; Thomas J. -1859 and John-1862). Four more children were born after they moved to Baltimore. Thomas Kelly Sr. had a fashionable Shoe Shop on Centre Street near the present St. Ignatius. A Baltimore City Directory for 1896 shows ?Kelly Thos, shoemkr. 111 E. Centre, h 907 E Chase?. In 1871 and 1872 he was shown as living at 189 Chesnut St. The family also lived on Hillen Street near the Belair Market before they moved to Chase Street. The families of Lacey and Holden besides the Arthurs are direct descendants of this family. Richard Cashen came to this country in 1915 through Ellis Island. He was born in County Tipperary, Ireland in a town called Templederry. He was one of ten children. Seven children came to the US and three remained in Ireland. One went to New Orleans, two went to St. Louis and four came to Baltimore. The Arthur-Kelly-Cashen families of Baltimore Maryland: Surname List

The Green and Nannie Privett Dale Family of KY and WV
Nannie Privett Dale the oldest child of Alfred and Callie Hounshell Privett. Her family consisted of Robert, Daniel, Ernest, Lucian, Alfred Jr., Nola, Ida, Ethel, Mary. This family were all born and most married in Breahtitt County, Kentucky. \r\n\r\nGreen was the son of Henry Powell and Alice Cannon Dale. His family consisted of Clyde(son of Alice), William, John, Chlara (known as Chloe), and Carolyn (known as Carrie). This family is complete I believe for the 2nd marriage of Henry. Although I am not sure on the 1st marriage the 3rd marriage to Dora Fletcher possibly produced Columbia, Sofa, and Issac. I do believe that Henry's son Columbus (known as Lum) was from his first marriage.\r\n\r\nInterneTree: All-in-One Tree of Robert Levi Privett\r\n\r\nGenealogy Report: Descendants of Robert Levi Privett\r\n\r\nGenealogy Report: Descendants of Henry Powell Dale

Abbott/Arthur/Bane/Cadle/Cooper/Friend/Phillips/Skidmore
Our Abbott history starts with three brothers who started out from Scotland with the last name McNab (my great grandfather James Early Abbott told me of this himself when I was six, and Ms. Lee confirmed it years later) and ended up here in America as an Abbott. James from whom I\m a straight decendant, and his two brothers Thomas and Matthew split up shortly there after. We never knew what happened to Thomas or Matthew. Rumor has it one went to the New England area, the other to Pennsylvania. I have got to know where those two brothers went off to! My wish is to find their parents and prove the McNab legend. \r\n\r\nAs well as the Abbott line of Virginia and West Virginia, I\m looking into the family of Friend Davidson Arthur of Summersville W.VA, his son, Christopher Columbus Arthur, his son William Sherman Arthur and his son Paul Sherman Arthur born in Gallia County, Ohio. Also the decendants of Paul's sister Mary Jane Arthur-Cook born in 1902 Gallia County Ohio and last residence known, Omaha, NE. Paul Arthur was my mother's father. We\ve found out a great deal more about Paul in the past year, but he was a hard fellow to find. We live for this kind of stuff though don\t we? This page holds my family tree, which will be updated frequently. If you see someone you know, let me know. If you have information on someone, please share it with me. I have a lot of information on the Laughlin, Davy , Glendenning and Thomson lines, but the Sullivan, Burgess, Farrer, Harman, Trivett and Purchase lines need much more work. Please note that the Davy, Thomson and Glendenning pages are very large and takes time to load.

I am most interested in finding information on James Sullivan who immigrated to Canada in 1912 and left behind their families. I know it is too much to find my grandfather side of the family. I am offering a $100.00 US reward for the first person that can find him. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the back up I have on James as to date.
