Tidwells With Meriwether And Coweta County, Georgia Roots
According to family tradition, my gggrandfather, the father of John Madison TIDWELL was a sheriff or marshal in Mississippi before the Civil War. His horse returned home with blood on the saddle. It was assumed he was killed by a horse thief. If anyone researching TIDWELL families in Mississippi or Georgia has information that may support this tradition in my family, please contact me by e-mail. |

My grandfather Byron Clayton ALLEN was born in Iowa in 1867. His Mother's name is Eliza Ann. He came to California and married Widow Nellie Ella STARK. Her maiden name was BUNCH. Nellie was born in Eugene Oregon September 15, 1861.\r\n\r\nByron Clayton ALLEN worked for a railroad company as a telegrapher, also as a carpenter. He had two brothers, one named William, b: 1861 in Iowa and the other named Henry, b: 1865 in Iowa. These two brothers managed a grocery store in Woodland, California. He also had a sister named Nellie, b: 1869 in Iowa. She married Ambrose BAKER, b: abt 1876 in Missouri. Byron died in 1929 and is buried in Dunnigan, Clifornia.\r\n |

Daniel McMICHAEL was born Oct 26., 1781, in Schenectady, New York, son of Daniel McMICHAEL and Barber VEDDER. He married Janet ARNOT (born in Scotland) in Glen, Montgomery Co., New York, on Sept. 16, 1806. He died May 10, 1846, in Florida (Minaville), Montgomery Co., New York. Daniel and Janet had at least nine children: Jenet, Daniel, Robert, Barbary, Christa, Isabella, Albert, William, Charlotte, and possibly Alexander and John (no further information known). |
