The Austin family is from the Chester, South Carolina area. Many members of the family were buried in the Evergreen Cemetery located in Chester, S.C. My father's name was William Stone Austin (3/6/1916 - 6/5/1976). His father was Charles (Charlie) Rabb Austin (3/26/1893 - 9/23/1973). My Great Grandfather was Woodward G. Austin (6/6/1861 - 5/5/1930). I believe his father's name was Josh Austin and his Mother was Mary Hawkins both of South Carolina. My Great Grandmother (Woodward's wife) was Mahala or Mahalie Gregory and her father was Jarrett Gregory. Jarrett's wife's name may have been Anna. My Great Grandfather's name on my Grandmothers side was: Benjamin Franklin Wages (known to many as Tink or Tinker), he died December 22, 1927. His wife was Mattie Ooham or Okams (this may be her second married name as she remarried after B.F. died) and she died January 7th 1932. My Grandmother's name was Cinie Donnie Wages. Cinie and Charles (Charlie) were married April 4, 1911 in South Carolina. They had 9 children; Charlie Woodrow (Woody), William Stone (Bill) (my dad); Fuller (Wiggy); Eva Mae, Arthur Andrew; Estelle, Bobbie Ruth; Robert Edward and Peggy Jean. |
