I have traced the family back to 1515, Ololus Custer, Kaldenkirchen, Germany. The Custer family apparently starts there. No one has come up with a Custer ancester older than that. John and Susannah Custer descendants. They were the first Mercer County (Custer) settlers. John and Susannah's son Peter. Peter had a son named Joseph. Joseph had a son named James S. James S. had a son named Albert. Albert had a son named Elba. Elba had a son named Rolland. And I am Rolland's daughter. My name is Robert Charles Adrian, born February 12, 1943, in Port Huron MI, son of Robert Charles August Adrian (1918-1997) and Sylvia Ruth (Hinkley) Adrian (1916- ).\r\n\r\nBoth paternal and maternal families have their backgrounds in Michigan: Paternal in the Rogers City, Presque Isle County areas; Maternal in the St Clair and Sanilac-Lapeer County areas, mainly in and about Brown City, Fremont Township (in Sanilac county) and Yale and Brockway township (in St Clair co).\r\n\r\nPaternal ancestry is from Pommerania and Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Prussia areas of Germany (before the unification).\r\n\r\nMaternal ancestry are basically English-Scottish arriving in emigrating to the Michigan in the mid to late 1800's from Canada.\r\nPaternal family ancestral names include: Adrian, Horn, Quade, Roeske, Florip. Most having emigrated from Germany to the United States between the years 1840-1890. This is a research/discussion group for the descendants of Peter BLACK, who lived in Buffalo Twp, Washington Co PA. According to his will dated 12 Feb 1808, Peter's children were: Elizabeth (m. MASTERS), Samuel, James, John, Peter, David, Moses, Aaron, Sarah, Kettron (Katherine?), Solomon, and Joseph. Some of Peter BLACK (Sr)'s children and grandchildren moved to Champaign Co OH between 1805 and 1810 and to Henry Co IA between 1835 and 1840.
