I have traced the family back to 1515, Ololus Custer, Kaldenkirchen, Germany. The Custer family apparently starts there. No one has come up with a Custer ancester older than that. John and Susannah Custer descendants. They were the first Mercer County (Custer) settlers. John and Susannah's son Peter. Peter had a son named Joseph. Joseph had a son named James S. James S. had a son named Albert. Albert had a son named Elba. Elba had a son named Rolland. And I am Rolland's daughter. My name is Robert Charles Adrian, born February 12, 1943, in Port Huron MI, son of Robert Charles August Adrian (1918-1997) and Sylvia Ruth (Hinkley) Adrian (1916- ).\r\n\r\nBoth paternal and maternal families have their backgrounds in Michigan: Paternal in the Rogers City, Presque Isle County areas; Maternal in the St Clair and Sanilac-Lapeer County areas, mainly in and about Brown City, Fremont Township (in Sanilac county) and Yale and Brockway township (in St Clair co).\r\n\r\nPaternal ancestry is from Pommerania and Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Prussia areas of Germany (before the unification).\r\n\r\nMaternal ancestry are basically English-Scottish arriving in emigrating to the Michigan in the mid to late 1800's from Canada.\r\nPaternal family ancestral names include: Adrian, Horn, Quade, Roeske, Florip.
