Martin Mellinger returned to Liditz, PA in 1863 after his medical discharge from the Army in Ohio. By 1865 Martin is in Stephenson Co, Illinois and marries Anna Sellers, also of PA. They have three daughter together, Mary, Sarah, and Emma Elizabeth. Emma and Sarah list Princeton Indiana as their place of birth. Sometime after Emma's birth in 1873, Martin and Anna divorced. DANIEL BAILEY (1799-1864) born in New York State, had two sons: His oldest son, EPHRAIM R. BAILEY, (1830-1894) never married and moved to Tama Co, Iowa in 1860 to farm. CHARLES S. BAILEY, (1843-1916) was born in St. Lawrence County, Edwards, New York on 19 July 1843. The Bailey family moved to Tama Co, Iowa around 1856 and settled in the town of Toledo. Charles enlisted into the 10th Iowa Infantry in 1861 and was discharged in 1865. Charles married Margaret E. Fisher (1844-1917) in Toledo, Iowa. They had two children, LEONA A. BAILEY (1867-1922) and FRED A BAILEY, (1870-1953). The family moved to Buffalo Co, Shelton, NE in 1873 to continue farming. FRED BAILEY married MAY E. CALKINS (1868-1898) and moved to Omaha, NE. LEONA BAILEY married NATANIAL A. SMITH (1863-1903), and moved to Dawes Co, Crawford, NE EPHRAIM stayed in Tama Co until the 1890's and died in Shelton NE in 1894. DANIEL BAILEY died in 1864 in Toledo, Iowa at the age of 64 years. DANIEL BAILEY from New York State, (1820 - 1850). He spent at least 20 years in the town of Edwards, N.Y. and remarried a second time around 1840. DANIEL could have had another son and daughter. AUG family that lived in White Mills, PA. My grandfather was William Henry Aug. He had two brothers, Fred and Corbett, and one sister, Marselle. My grandfather and his brothers were glassblowers for the Dorflinger Glass Works. Their father was Fred Aug who married Alice CORBETT, the daugher of Luke and Mary Alice LYNCH Corbett. The family moved from PA to Brooklyn, NY, and my father, William Michael Aug, moved to Denville, NJ with his parents and sisters when he was young. My grandmother is Julia LUNZ Aug. She is the daughter of Julius Lunz and Elizabeth BEEHL Lunz, who was born in Bayern , Germany. |

InterneTree: Frederick Stuart Atkinson On the McKinnon, Stuart and Scottish Clans sides, the heritage of Mary Queen of Scott's and the Battle of Culloden Moor and have deeply affected our Scotch family history. Because of religious persecution, battles and wars, our Scotch ancestors ended up hastily leaving Scotland, from The Isle Of Skye, on the Ark and Dove and immigrated to Prince Edward Island. The Atkinson Family Tree ancestors emigrated from Europe (England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Holland, France and Germany, Italy, Switzerland). Others came from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania in particular. This is not unusual because the Maritime Provinces were a haven for those loyal to the British Crown and setters were promised substantial land grants from the British government to move to the Maritimes after the expulsion of the Acadians. It is interesting to note that our family also includes Iroquois and/or Micmac Native American women marrying at least two separate ancestors in the US and Nova Scotia. Another ancestor came to Duxbury MA area in the 1621, on the ship that came after the Mayflower called the Fortune. On the Atkinson side, my grandfathers 5th great grandfather Benjamin Allen left New England and fought in the French and Indian War on the British side in Nova Scotia. He was badly wounded losing a leg, was discharged and sent back to New England, settling and starting a family in Kingston, MA. He later went back to Halifax, NS and joined in the ill-fated Eddy Rebellion, and after the Eddy Rebellion failed, he became a wanted man. He eventually joined the Tories in Nova Scotia during the American Revolutionary War. He would have been hung as a traitor if he returned to his home and family in Kingston, MA. We are also descended from Col. Hezekiah King and Col. Benoni Danks who were infamous participants in the Eddy Rebellion. On the Atkinson side we are related to Presidents John Adams, Samuel Adams and William Howard Taft, Poets Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Ralph Waldo Emerson, Betty Ford and singer Ann Murray to name a few. Charles Edward Wilhoite died in 1955 he was 79 years old He also had 3 sisters, May, Ethel and Gertrude and they were still alive at time of his death. Charles was born Feb 5th 1876 in Ringgold Georgia and his parents were William Wilhoite and Josephine Withers. |
