The Elias Sittler Family of Indiana
my gggrandfather's name was Elias Sittler. He was married(?)to Katheryn Corell. They had at least one son named William Sittler who was born March 24, 1855. William married Abigale Cumrine who was born Aug. 21, 1864. They had several children named: Winnie(Winfred?-birth date unknown, Hazel-birth date unknown, Cloyd-born in 1885, Ruth-born June 26,1887, Elizabeth-born Nov. 10, 1890, Ward-born Mar. 15, 1897 and Larsh J.E.(My Grandfather)-born Oct. 24, 1897. Larsh married Hazel Mamie Foster. According to verbal history in the family, Elias walked out of the house one day and was never heard of again. His wife raised the children alone. It is possible the history starts in Pennsyvania since the family referred to themselves as Pennsyvania Dutch. The family history starts with his son William Sittler who lived in Indiana with his family and is buried there. |
