He also had a Sister Bassie Davis She is my Great Grand Aunt Richard & Mary - they called her Bambi had only one child my Grand Father Samuel Davis aka (Samuel Jofar) Born 1883,in Richmond, Virginia. He ran away from home and was able to pass as white; He joined the Merchant Marine and lived in Brazil with a Family named Jofar. After he returned to America and rejoined his family he told them that Davis was a Slave name and his free name was Jofar. He would never use that name again he was not a slave to any Man, His father did not like this and there were many family arguments about it. Samuel Jofar married Ella Pierman my Grandmother she was Born 1884 in Lynchburg, Virginia the Jofar & Davis family arrived in Phoenix, Arizona about 1915 Just before the Birth of my Mother Wyona Jofar-Beasley. Samuel Jofar Became one of the 1st Black Doctor's in the state of Arizona He was a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine His Office was located near 11th Street & Washington in Phoenix, Arizona He was also a Barber And I still can remember my 1st hair cut as a child. Richard & Mary Davis are buried at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona Samuel & Ella Jofar are buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona The Children of Samuel & Ella Jofar are: Wyona L. Jofar Beasley Martha Jofar Belcher Joseph K. Jofar The Beasley , Pitre, Jofar, Davis Family: Surname List

My Great grandfather,Wright William Beakley, helped put the statue on top of the Capitol building in Austin, Texas. He may have been a contractor or foreman at the time. I have a photo of a large group of men beside the statue prior to its being raised to the top of the Capitol in 1888. My Great grandfather Samuel Anderson Long fought in the war against Mexico for Texas' independance and came to Texas from Tennessee. My Great grandfather, Tony Allen Estes was born about 1850 in Clayton County Georgia. The Leavitts came to Texas from Maine in the middle 1800s

Shipman died ca 1869 in either Bell or Coryell Co., TX. Daniel SAGE was born ca 1803 in KY, married Jane DYE, born ca 1816 in VA, and migrated to TX by 1850. Daniel and family were found on the 1850 Dallas Co., TX census. Joseph R. BROOKE was born ca 1794 in MD, married Sarah PERRY(daughter of Walter PERRY and Elizabeth PHILLIPS) in GA and migrated to MS by 1840. Joseph died ca 1856 in Lauderdale Co., MS and is buried in LOCUST GROVE CEMETERY in GA. Isaac YATES/YEATES was born ca 1860 in AR, married Becky ADAMS ca 1880 and remained in AR unitl after 1910 when he moved to MS. Becky was not counted on the 1910 Prairie Co., AR census leaving me to assume she had died by this time. Issac died 1928 in Vicksburg, Warren Co., MS.

Thomas Mark Yeates and May Price - I know that Thomas was a foreman on the Sydney Harbour retaining wall project, that they had five (5)? children being:-Nelson Frank, Eva, Thomas, Herbert and Norman, all of the children were born in Sydney, the family then moved to West Wallsend, NSW, Australia. Nelson married Ellen Durie in 1912 and they had 3 children James, Nelson Frank (my grandfather on my mother's side) and Elvie Eva. James Durie and Mary Ann Martin married 1892. they had six (6)? children - Ellen, John, Rose, Amy & Mary (twins) Jim and Vera. James Black and Marjory or Margary Grubb married cir 1880 in Scotland. Both were born in Scotland with Marjory being born in Largo. They lived in Minmi NSW Australia. They had five (5)? children - Katherine, Jean, John, James and William. William was killed in WWI. Katherine married Joseph Thompson in 1917 and had 2 daughters Marjory (my grandmother on my mother's side) and Mary (also known as Mollie) Joseph Thompson and Mary Ann Elliott - they had at least one son Joseph born 1888 who married Katherine Black at Minmi in 1917.
