The John Arneal chart starts in the 1700's and traces the Arneals (or Arneels) from northern Ireland to Ohio and eventually to Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska. The Hans Funk tree starts in 1656 in Germany. This leads to the Hauber line. The Timothy C. Armitages of Golden, CO
My family appears to have imigrated from Scotland, Ireland and Germany. William McCleish came to America in 1778. He married Jane Alexander (father Gilbert Alexander. I'm not sure whether they married here or in Scotland. They had 3 children John, James and Jane all born near Murfreesboro, NC. My descendant John (b. 1793), married Eleanor Blythe they settled in Madison County, TN (near Jackson) at a place called Cub Creek?. Their daughter, Martha Ellen McCleish (b. 1842) married Robert Moore Neely (in 1859) who died in the Civil war in 1862. They had 1 child, John Samuel Neely (b. 1860). She remarried Henry C. Spurlock. John Samuel Neely married Mattie Bryan Speight in 1890 in Hunt Co. TX. They had 8 children of which my grandmother Mabel Louise Neely was one. My father's descendant Frederick Koch, Breitenborn, Germany. My husband's family is of German descent(Weissert) and I am told the Armitages were black Irish. Kathleen H Armitage - InterneTree |

AARON ARMSTRONG (1861-1921). AARON (a slave/sharecropper) was born in York County, SC. His father was a slave named ANDY. His birthplace is believed to be a plantation owned by Clawson and Armstrong families of Yorkville or York County, SC. He married Frances Shoppes (early-mid 1880s), resided in/near Clover, South Carolina and had five children (Robert, Ed, Frances, Ida and David). After Frances' death (1892-94), he married an African-Indian woman named Harriet Tate (1867 - 1946). She was a resident of either Beufort or Clover, South Carolina. This second marriage bore five additional children (Lester, Martha, Andy, Isabelle and James). James (Babe) was my grandfather.
