Rudolph VON HEICHEIN of Germany immagrated to the US with his family. Last name was changed to HECKMANN, later his children dropped the second n. Rudolph's son and my great-grandfather was Henry H. Heckman. Henry married Ella Mae THOMAS of Kentucky, they lived in the area of Pueblo, Colorado with their 9 children - 8 boys & 1 girl. (Adam E., Fredrick V., Joe, Richard, Edna, Thomas J., Rudolph, Harold, & Robert). Adam married Audrey, Fred married Katherine Hazel WHITEHEAD (my grandparents), Richard married Carrie, Edna maried a Mr. STUCKER, Tom married Verbal. my gr-gr grandmother Nancy A. PORTER was born about 1817 in NY. She married Horace Lorenzo PRATT 11 February 1835 in Chautauqua Co., New York. They moved to MI where their first 3 children were born in Livingston Co. and they are listed on 1840 Census. In 1840-42 they moved to Shiawassee Co. where they are listed on 1850 census with 6 children. On 1870 census Nancy is listed as head of household with 3 children at home. Horace died in Newaygo Co., MI 20July1889. Horace and Nancy's children were Sarah Emily, John, Harriet(died in infancy), Mary J., Harriet Phoebe, John Nelson, Cordelia, Nancy Myrtle, Martha Emily, William P., and Samuel Lorenzo. My grandfather, Peder Johannes (John Peter) Svendsen immigrated in 1914 on the SS United States (not the famous liner but the old steamer). He was born in a house called Sejehuset in a small village called Slaglille in Alsted, Sor? amt in 1892. His mother's family had lived in the house for generations. I have traced his father's family (Jacob Conrad Svendsen) back to Holsteinborg on the southern coast of Sealand not too far from Slaglille still in Sor? amt. Jacob Conrad was born in F?rslev in 1824 to Jacob Peter Svendsen and Sophie Charlotte Husum. Sophie's parents were Andreas Husum and Birgette M?ller of Holsteinborg. My Allen Family first appears in Maysville, KY (old Limestone) in Mason County about 1775. The patriarch was Hugh Allen, whose sons, Hugh Jr. and John eventually moved to the Centerville, OH area about 1811. In Centerville and Washington Township, OH, the Allens married into the Kelsey and Kindle Families. I am also descended from the Larew Family of Augusta County, Virginia; the Adair and Qua Families of St. Lawrence and Washington Counties, New York; and the DuMontier and Rochambeau Families of Montreal. From Ireland, I am descended from the Rutherford Family from Belfast (arrived in the US about 1870) and the McKnight Family from Bangor, County Down, N. Ireland which arrived about 1870 as well.
