Came to the United States in the early 1800s and settled in Contra Costa County. He married Sarah Goulding-Woods born February 24, 1848 Wales, Ireland. Died June 1906 in San Francisco.\r\n\r\nThe McDermotts, James McDermott born Abt.1840 in Ireland, died 1894 Somerville, California. Married Margaret ? born in Ireland and died Abt. 1922 California they had 2 children, William and Mary.\r\n\r\nAlso trying to research families from Holland, Hendrik G. Van der Meulen, born in Amsterdam, Holland June 6,1900. Died in Rotterdam 1967. His father was Heymerig Van der Meulen and mother, Elisabeth Van Beeren. Hendrik G. married Geertruida Van Rooyen in Amsterdam, she was born April 9,1900. Her parents were Dirk Martinus Van Rooyen and Petronella Catharina Willems. They had five children, their oldest girl died during WWII and the other four immigrated to California. Very interested in finding and/or recording their siblings, have information that some of the Van Rooyens have also immigrated to California.\r\n\r\nGerrit Feenstra born April 6, 1898 in the Netherlands, died around 1973/4 in Amsterdam. He was born April 7th, 1862 (possibly in the Chicago Illinois area). George Lewis Ackerman married Sarah Esther Wicks (her death certificate states she was born in England). They lived in London, Ontario and St. Thomas, Ontario from about 1885 to the early 1900's. They had four children who were all born in Canada; Alfred Burnie Ackerman, Jessie Ackerman (Wilson), George F. Ackerman and Roy Gerald Ackerman. George Lewis Ackerman and wife moved to Port Huron, Michigan around 1905. Alfred married Mary V. Nichol from Ontario, Canada and lived in Port Huron, Jessie married Joseph Wilson from Ontario, Canada and lived in Sudbury, Ontario, George married Ethel May Skinner and lived in Detroit, Michigan, and Roy married Edith Morton and lived in Detroit, Michigan and Sudbury, Ontario. Alfred Burnie Ackerman remarried after his first wife died. Mary E. English was the maiden name of his second wife. She was previously married to James Joseph Cahill who died while serving Canada in the infantry during WW1.
