Origin: I researched the name 'Pickering' several years ago at my local library. The particular article said the name Pickering may have evolved from people called 'Pickeringus'. Its meaning was, "People who live on the edge of the pointed hill." I laughed when I read this because I imagined the filthy peasant characters from Monty Python and the Holy Grail running down the pointed hill from their huts and pillaging unfortunate travellers on the road below.

Origin: My interpretation of the meaning of McGoldrick can be traced back to about 900A.D. It comes from the gaelic Magualghairg and was prevalent in the Breifne region of Ireland, now Cos.Cavan,Fermanagh and Leitrim. It can be traced to the kings of Breifne and is still mentioned in that form till about 1500. In more modern times it is found as McGolrick,McGouldrick,McGolderick. Many emigrants, particularly to the US changed it to Golden,Golding as they weren't able to spell. In the west of Scotland it seems to have depended on how you accent was interpreted as to how your name was spelled. My Dad was one of 10 and there are at least 4 different spellings on birth certificates.Fortunately they were able to retain the family name .I was always told we were descended from the Spanish,(I thought the Armada)but having researched I was astounded to learn of the Spanish history in Ireland.Well worth a look for McGoldricks!!

Origin: The surname "Lubowicki" is the english form of the surname "Lubovisziki" which originated from Ukraine (formally U.S.S.R) during the early 1800's and before. During World Ware I, the name was then renamed to males having the last name from "Lubovisziki" to "Lubowicki" and females from the above name to "Lubowicka" when many Ukrainian's migrated to Poland. How ever, the name was extended as apart of an unknown reason to "Lubowicki-Stasiak" and "Lubowicka-Stasiak". The extended surname "Stasiak" was never used and was used as a seperate surname but only by members of the same family tree.

Origin: My Grandfather told me that I was a mispelling because my bloodline is German. That The proper English Rookers are descendents of the Stewards of the Tower of London . Chraged with keeping the Rooks (ravens-before the term became fixed for one specie) from leaving. This is why the Rook chesspiece is tower shaped since usage of the Old english "Roche" for Castle would be unused by chess playing nobilty. Hey.. That is what he said. Origin of ick, Meaning of ick
Origin: The Rickhuss name breaks down into two parts:
Rick and Huss.
Rick is a formulization of the personal family name of Richard, of Welsh origin.
Huss is derived from John Huss (originally known as Jan Hus) who was the procaster of the Huss movement and the Hussite wars. See below information as this is the only historical part of the Rickhuss name.
It is very likely that a follower of John Huss moved to Wales around 1450, probably to spread the word of the Hussites, upon there being Richard Huss who may have been a leader or well known in his area the personal name became Rickhuss along with many alternatives, Rikus, Ricas being the main roots.
It appears that Rickhuss is the singular root by which all similar names are derived.
The family name Huss appears across most of Northern Europe and has been merged into other family names.
The personal name Rickhuss is originally found no-where in the world apart from the Welsh and Shropshire area. All Rickhuss root names can be traced to this area.
Previous findings that Rickhuss has any German or Scandinavian roots are incorrect. There is a link with a Barnhard Rickus to Germany but there is no evidence to link any of English origin, yet in Low German rickuss means house in the swamp.
This can be proved by a lack of historical information on the Rickhuss name in any other European country previous to 1767.
1767 is the first proven documented date for the personal name Rickhuss. (Christening of Elizabeth Rickhuss, Much Wenlock, shropshire)
