Born in Sheridan county, Missouri, on June 10, 1834, he grew to early manhood there, acquiring a common school education. When he became nineteen he yielded to the promptings of his ambitious and daring spirit, which were summoning him westward, and came out to Oregon. |

The Garrett Family Home Page
My Garrett family originated in England and settled in the Southern United States primarily in Alabama, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee. The Rafferty family was from Iowa, moved to Missouri and then Arkansas and Texas. The Bean Family is from Arkansas. The Berry family is from Oklahoma and Texas. My particular line of Garretts moved from Alabama to Texas after the civil war. |

Frederick ROCHLITZ (1816-1890) was from Pomerania, Germany and died in Pulaski, Iowa. He was married to Caroline Wilhelmine KAEDING (1820-1897). They lived in the Bloomfield, Iowa area. They had 7 children: Wilhelmine, Augusta, Frederick, Ernestine,Mary, William and August. Charles Gotlieb ULRICH (1839-1913) was born in Hammermuchle,Germany and died in Dewitt, Nebraska. He was married to Johannah GRAFF (1844-1879/81). They lived in Illinois where Johannah is buried. They had 6 children: Anna, Wilhemina, Albert, Mary, Charles, and Edward. The Banahan Family of Chicago
My great grandfather, James Banahan, first appears in the 1860 Census of Baltimore, Md. He was 21 years old at that time and residing with a John and Bridgette Banahan, 33 and 28 years old, respectively. He indicated his national origin was Ireland. He appears again in the 1880 Census of Illinois. He was married at that time to Catherine Winn and they had three minor children; Patrick, 6 years old, James (my grandfather) 3 years old, and Mary Ann, 1 year old. There were three other children born to them after the census; Thomas, Elizabeth and Katherine. My great-grandfather died in 1887, his wife, Katherine not long after in 1890. Their daughter Katherine (Kate) died at 22 years of age in 1903. Patrick never married and died childless in 1922. Mary Ann married a man named Brustman and Elizabeth went on to marry a man named Scully. Thomas also married and had two children named Catherine and Jane. Dennis M Banahan - InterneTree |

Martin Mellinger returned to Liditz, PA in 1863 after his medical discharge from the Army in Ohio. By 1865 Martin is in Stephenson Co, Illinois and marries Anna Sellers, also of PA. They have three daughter together, Mary, Sarah, and Emma Elizabeth. Emma and Sarah list Princeton Indiana as their place of birth. Sometime after Emma's birth in 1873, Martin and Anna divorced.
