Richard (Dick) Gamblin of Hopkins County, Ky.
My father was Casper Gamblin, B.09-10-1911, D.06-02-1989. My Dad knew very little of his family, but he did give me a few bits and pieces through the years. His father was Richard (Dick) Gamblin, B.03-10-1885, D.11-06-1942. His mother was Annie Sadler, possibly Sara Ann, B. 01-25-1892. Dad only had one living sister by the time I was born, and her name was Dixie. There were no other immediate family members except some aunts and uncles on his mother's side. Dad's grandfather was H.G. Gamblin, middle name, George. There is a marriage record of H.G. Gamblin and Charlena F. Gamblen on Dec. 2, 1896. Dad always talked about visits from his uncles, but he wasn\t sure if they were his Dad's brothers or his great uncles. He remembered the names of Bud and Orlean. He remembered that one of them had long black hair and wore braids. Native American, maybe? Dad also thought that his father had two brothers, John and Jake, and one sister, Margaret. |
