The name Barcom stems from the French name Berthiuame and is spelled by some branches as Barcomb, Barcome and several others. Zettel is sometimes spelled Zettl. Sebastian, Maria and their three children settled in Leroy, Wisconsin. Son Joseph later moved to West Bend, Washington, Wisconsin while daughter Maria, Teresa and son Xaver remained in the Leroy area . His parents are possibly George Merrin (Mearing) and Mary. Andrew's wife was Margaret Struble who was born in 1778 perhaps also in NJ. *information about Sarah Beers who was born in 1803. Grace's Father was Charles Albert Oliver who was born in England March 23,1856 and migrated to the US from Canada into New York with two brothers (one was Thomas) and then to Ohio. Charles was first married to a woman named Melinda who had a son named Fred before he married Edsie Raber in Ohio. |

Edward Bently Gilder, Head Maggie Reese Gilder, Wife Alice Gilder, Daughter, born June 29th, 1896 Gertrude Gilder, Daughter, born about 1894 Edward and Maggie had one more daughter in 1901...Marian, and then Maggie died when Marian was 4 or 5 (1905-1906). Edward was born around 1864 and immigrated to this country from England around 1890. His wife was Maggie Reese, born around 1874 in Philadelphia. Maggie died around 1905 in Philadelphia. Maggie had one sister Elsie. Frederick Buchler married Marian Gilder on May 26th, 1924. Frederick was born in Pennsylvania on Dec 11th, 1887. He had two older brothers, Augustus and William. All of them were born in Pennsylvania, but either one or both of their parents were born in Germany. Frederick's birth certificate lists his parents as Joseph and Mrs. Biehler, but his Baptismal Certificate lists his parents as Frederick Bichler and Elizabeth Fillers, and still another record (his Funeral book) lists his Parents as Augusta and Elizabeth Buchler. Cirencester. Later travels in time brought me to the Pinwills of Ermington, Devonshire, including The Reverend Edmund Pinwill and his seven highly talented daughters who set up their own carving business. Their ancesters included the Rashleighs of Menabilly, Cornwall including Jonathan Rashleigh of Civil War fame, made famous by Daphne Du Maurier's novel The King's General. William Haines, an ancestor, came to America from Dover, England in 1832, he settled in Ohio. John Henry Henley was born in Staffordshire, England in 1858. His parents are unknown but as per a census, they were both born in Ireland. John came to America in the 1870's, married Josephine Catherine Ott in Youngstown, Ohio and had his 1rst 2 children there. They then moved to Earlington, Ky. and had 4 more children. Josephine died delivering twins in Earlington, Ky., the twins died as well. John then took his remaining 6 children to southern Illinois where he bought a home in southern Illinois. John remarried Olive Sabastian from southern Illinois. Olive brought her son Leo (they all called Leo Sabastain)into the family. Olive and John then had one more child, a boy. John Henley was a music teacher and he taught all his children to play an instrument as soon as they could hold the instrument or sit at the piano. The family played at the Madi Gra, at the St. Louis World's Fair, and they traveled in a box car across America performing at concerts. In his later years John Henry Henley played for the Barnum and Bailey Circus with his youngest son, Francis. The main music they played was Ragtime and Marches. The Wymer's were located in Ohio for years. They are of German descent. |
