(early 11th century) arrived England 1066 with William of Normandy Urse d'Abitoft family head settled at Worcester England. (3) Son Richard fitx Urse married daughter of Ascuit Musard who gave the estate of Barlei as a wedding gift. i.e., Richard fitz Urse de Barkei. Name changed during the 100 years war with France to BARLOW. Confirmation of this info retained in the church of St. Laurence at BARLOW Derbyshire , England together with much more info.

Arrived England with William of Normandy in 1066 and held estates on the Welsh border Urse d'abitot was garrison commander and sherrif of worcester and is buried at the cathedral there. Son Richard fitzUrse married and settled at estate at Barlei in Derbyshire French influence in name dropped during the 100 years war with France. Name distorted to Barlow from 15th century.
