The Jarcho-Yarcha-Turoff-Turow-Bermant families from Slutsk
The origins of this family start in Ancient Judea and stretch to Medieval Spain and Southern France and the town of Lunel where the Ha-Yarchi families lived until late 1300's- early 1400's. The family then moved North and East into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in what became the province of Minsk Gubernia in present day Belarus. The tows of Baranovitch, Slutsk ,Turov and Kletsk and the surrounding towns were where they lived during the 1700's and 1800's. The earliest named ancestor was Zimel Yarcha(1750-1800). His descendents spread to other areas of Russia such as Pinsk, Minsk, Yekatrinoslav and Yousovka before leaving for Israel,England,Belgium,Argentina and most to the USA. My research goes back to Lemkovyna in the Carpathan Mountains, particularly in what is now Southeastern Poland. The villages of my ancestors are primarily Pielgrzymka ( Peregrymka ) , Klopotnica and Wola Cieklinska. |

Valentine Eckel who originated from Neider-wiessen, Germany around 1660. Most of the Eckels that I have found were born in or around Wendelsheim, Hessen, Germany. This branch of my family lived in Germany until sometime in the late 1700's or early 1800's. Andreas Eckel Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Nagel moved to Philadelphia, PA. My Great^6 Uncle was William Eckel was rhe Superintendent of the State House Steeple, Independece Hall, Philadelphia, PA. It is said that he gave the final decision to drill the hole in the Liberty Bell so that they could ring the bell, which in turn cause the famous crack. |
