My Garrett family originated in England and settled in the Southern United States primarily in Alabama, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee. The Rafferty family was from Iowa, moved to Missouri and then Arkansas and Texas. The Bean Family is from Arkansas. The Berry family is from Oklahoma and Texas. My particular line of Garretts moved from Alabama to Texas after the civil war.

descendants of my grandfather, Thomas Charles Council b. Oct 4, 1858 in Wakulla County, Florida. his grandfather migrated to Georgia and Alabama from North Carolina before 1833. Tom's father was John Cecil Council m. to Frances DeLaura Posey. We don't know John Cecil's father's name. His mother was Temperance Weaver, I believe from Alabama. My great grandfather on my mother's side of the family was John Monroe Robison who was born about 1828. He married Adella Frances Cooper, daughter of Samuel Cooper. John Monroe lived and died in south Georgia.

Martin Mellinger returned to Liditz, PA in 1863 after his medical discharge from the Army in Ohio. By 1865 Martin is in Stephenson Co, Illinois and marries Anna Sellers, also of PA. They have three daughter together, Mary, Sarah, and Emma Elizabeth. Emma and Sarah list Princeton Indiana as their place of birth. Sometime after Emma's birth in 1873, Martin and Anna divorced.
