He also had a Sister Bassie Davis She is my Great Grand Aunt Richard & Mary - they called her Bambi had only one child my Grand Father Samuel Davis aka (Samuel Jofar) Born 1883,in Richmond, Virginia. He ran away from home and was able to pass as white; He joined the Merchant Marine and lived in Brazil with a Family named Jofar. After he returned to America and rejoined his family he told them that Davis was a Slave name and his free name was Jofar. He would never use that name again he was not a slave to any Man, His father did not like this and there were many family arguments about it. Samuel Jofar married Ella Pierman my Grandmother she was Born 1884 in Lynchburg, Virginia the Jofar & Davis family arrived in Phoenix, Arizona about 1915 Just before the Birth of my Mother Wyona Jofar-Beasley. Samuel Jofar Became one of the 1st Black Doctor's in the state of Arizona He was a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine His Office was located near 11th Street & Washington in Phoenix, Arizona He was also a Barber And I still can remember my 1st hair cut as a child. Richard & Mary Davis are buried at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona Samuel & Ella Jofar are buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona The Children of Samuel & Ella Jofar are: Wyona L. William Gardner Moore was born in Ohio,,he married Nora Ellen Powell daughter of Elias and Rachel Rhinehammer Powell from Findlay,Ohio,Feb 8,1885,,they shortly moved to Michigan where my Grandfather Benjamin Franklin Moore was born on May 29.1886,he has a sister name Millie Ida Moore also born in Michigan,July 11,1888,,William was believed to have been married prior to Ellen Powell. William had 2 other children Granville Moore and Pearl Moore,,Granville was married to a woman named they called Lou and lived in Northeast Arkansas,and Pearl married Harry Peterman of Ohio and moved to Los Angeles,Ca where they both died,,Benjamin F Moore married Opha May Conley of Ozark County Mo,,my grandparents. |

He was married to Susannah Crow believed to be half Cherokee Indian. His maternal G-G-Grandfather was Philip McRae born between 1731-1760 in District of Kintail, Scotland. Lee's wife, Fannie Jane Magnusson's ancestors have been traced to her paternal Grandfather, Andreas Magnusson born April 14, 1810 in Goteborg (or Gotenburg), Sweden. Her maternal G-Grandfather was Richmond Johnson. Samuel Burney born in Ireland, William King of England, William Renick possibly born in Ireland. My Greatgrandmother was Cora Ellen Weathers born May 9, 1879 in Kingston, Ar. Her parents were Samuel E. Weathers and Mary Matilda Burney (a decendant of Samuel Burney). Mary's parents were James Wesley Burney of AL and Arkansas and Elizabeth Renick born in TN daughter of William Renick (I have no info on Renick). James is the son of Charles Burney son of Samuel Burney and Mary King daughter of William King of England. |

Maternal Grandmother Margaret Gentry. Maternal Grandfather George R. Weatherford. Bernard Stratman served under Sherman in the Civil War. He was with Sherman's army during the invasion and burning of Atlanta and was taken prisoner sometime afterward. He is buried in Persimmon Grove Cemetary in Campbell County KY. George Stratman and Laura Bridewell-Stratman are also buried in Persimmon Grove Cemetary in Campbell County KY Andrew Jackson Baker and his wife whom we think is named Mary Tussey-Baker are buried in Evergreen Cemetary in Southgate KY Clifford Raymond Baker and his wife Cora Frances Stratman-Baker are buried in Floral Hills Cemetary in Kenton County KY James Raymond Baker is also buried in Floral Hills Cemetary in Kenton County KY George E. Weatherford and his wife Margaret Gentry-Weatherford are buried in Ft Mitchell KY. Margaret Gentry-Weatherford's brother Robert Gentry and his wife are also buried there. |
