The Adams & Slate Family Pages
Most of the search revolves around Jefferson County, New York and Hastings County Ontario,Canada and their surrounding areas.\r\n\r\nThe search for the Slates led me to Vermont where I hit a wall. Solomon Slate was born in 1775 in Vermont and then traveled to Grindstone Island NY. I am unable to locate his ancestors in Vermont.\r\n\r\nThe search of the Adams (1), yes, there are two separate Adams families here, has left me off at Joseph Adams. He was married to Susanna (aka Susan) Slate (b.1843-d.1917) and they lived in Gananoque, Ontario while they had their children, Eva, Charlotte,George and David. Susans grave marker reads wf.of Joseph jr.. She is buried in Depauville, NY. There are markers in the Lutheran Cemetery there that list a Joseph 1793-1840 and Lydia 1798 - 1843, but they were more likely grandparents if related at all.
