Origin: The Rudisill surname and family originated in the hamlet of Frumsen, Switzerland in the middle ages. Originally a contraction of 'Rudolph's Ulrich' it was familiarized as Rudy's Uli, then Rudisuli, and the current Swiss spelling is Rudisuhli. One descendant, Hans Rudisuli, moved to Michelfeld Germany about 1661 and started a family there and the name was Germanized to 'Rudisile'. In the early 1700s, several of Hans' grandchildren migrated to America, where the name was changed again to 'Rudisill'. Since then there have been over 40 spelling variations on the name.
