The Brown/Hitzel Family Tree
The ancestors of Robin L. Brown and William W. Hitzel
Bean Manchester,CA
I know we started in Scotland before the 1700's. My great, great grandfather was Peter Bean and was born in VA.IN 1831. hE married Lenora Backer, not her maiden name as she was previously married and had two children, Alice & Martin. Peter and Lenora also had 4 children of their own. Edward, Leonard, Grace & Ralph, (he is my great grandfather). They moved to California in the 1860's. They settled at Long Ridge, Trinity Co. CA. I believe Leonard & Ralph stayed in that area. Leonard married Alma Rice and had Harold & Darrell. Ralph married Nora Sheilds and had Everett (my grandfather) & Grace. Leonard was killed in an auto accident in his 60's and Ralph I believe was killed in a logging accident when he was in his 40's. Everett married Mary Libera fron Eureka, CA. and had two children Ralph, (my father) & Diann. The family moved to Manchester, CA. in the 30's for a short time. When my grandparents went back to Eureka my dad stayed in Manchester and finnished school because he had met and fallen in love with my mother Esther Scaramella. Ralph and Esther had 5 children Mark, Jennifer, Lori Leonard & Stuart.
The Beatys and Littles of Ireland and India
BEATY I am researching the BEATY family, originally from Ireland. From family folklore Francis BEATY was born in Tullamore, Ireland in 1757 . Francis and his wife Catherine gave birth to three sons, John, Francis and Henry, probably in Stoke Damerel, Devon, while he served in the Royal Navy. In 1820 Francis and 1821 Henry, joined the Honourable East India Company Army as Cadets in Bengal, India. The elder son of Francis, named Francis Henry BEATY, and his wife Caroline Ophelia (n?e Sheels), had fifteen children all born in India. Five of the sons served in the Indian Police. The Beaty family finally left India in 1948. The cities in India and Pakistan that feature in the family history are Lahore, Jhansie, Karachi, Landour, Mussoorie, Quetta, Rawlpindi and Simla. LITTLE/LYTTLE I am also researching the LITTLE/LYTTLE family from Northern Ireland. In 1839 Andrew LITTLE was born in the Parish of Montiaghs, Lurgan, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, to Thomas and Mary (n?e Wilson) LITTLE. In 1858 he joined the 27th Inniskilling Regiment and sailed to India. He remained in India and retired from the army in 1894. He died in Dehra Dun, India in 1926. He had five children Mary Anne, Thomas Wilson, William John (my grandfather) Edward and Andrew. The surname spelling changed to LYTTLE with the children. The cities in India/Pakistan that feature in the family history are Dehra Dun, Jhansie, Karachi,Lahore, Meerut, North West Province,Peshawar and Simla. The Atkinson McKinnon Home Page
InterneTree: Frederick Stuart Atkinson On the McKinnon, Stuart and Scottish Clans sides, the heritage of Mary Queen of Scott's and the Battle of Culloden Moor and have deeply affected our Scotch family history. Because of religious persecution, battles and wars, our Scotch ancestors ended up hastily leaving Scotland, from The Isle Of Skye, on the Ark and Dove and immigrated to Prince Edward Island. The Atkinson Family Tree ancestors emigrated from Europe (England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Holland, France and Germany, Italy, Switzerland). Others came from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania in particular. This is not unusual because the Maritime Provinces were a haven for those loyal to the British Crown and setters were promised substantial land grants from the British government to move to the Maritimes after the expulsion of the Acadians. It is interesting to note that our family also includes Iroquois and/or Micmac Native American women marrying at least two separate ancestors in the US and Nova Scotia. Another ancestor came to Duxbury MA area in the 1621, on the ship that came after the Mayflower called the Fortune. On the Atkinson side, my grandfathers 5th great grandfather Benjamin Allen left New England and fought in the French and Indian War on the British side in Nova Scotia. He was badly wounded losing a leg, was discharged and sent back to New England, settling and starting a family in Kingston, MA. He later went back to Halifax, NS and joined in the ill-fated Eddy Rebellion, and after the Eddy Rebellion failed, he became a wanted man. He eventually joined the Tories in Nova Scotia during the American Revolutionary War. He would have been hung as a traitor if he returned to his home and family in Kingston, MA. We are also descended from Col. Hezekiah King and Col. Benoni Danks who were infamous participants in the Eddy Rebellion. On the Atkinson side we are related to Presidents John Adams, Samuel Adams and William Howard Taft, Poets Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Ralph Waldo Emerson, Betty Ford and singer Ann Murray to name a few. The Acuff and Cunningham Home Page
I am researching the Acuffs and Cunninghams. Other surnames that I\m interested in are FRYE(FREY), BARGER, SHIELDS, OLIVER, KIRKWOOD, and ADAMSON.\r\nThe Acuffs are my husband's clan and lived in Arkansas and Tennesse before that.\r\nThey lived in Hamilton County, Tennessee 1829+ until approximately 1860. I am working with the ACUFF-L surname subcription group. We are hoping to discover the Acuffs country of origin!\r\n\r\nThe Cunninghams lived in Southern Indiana 1828 to the present. They moved to Harrison County, Indiana from Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Family legend has it that the first American Cunningham in our family was a ship's carpenter. I know that Cunningham is a Scots-Irish name but would like to prove that mine is.\r\n\r\n
