John Nicewander of Columbiana Co, OH
John Nicewander d.o.b. 10-16-1838 in Columbiana Co., OH. He met and married Christina Geis on April 10, 1866. They lived in Massillon(Stark Co), Ohio. We believe John had a brother named Samuel, who later moved to the Battle Creek, Michigan area in his adult life. John & Christina Nicewander had 9 children, They were: 1 - Elizabethe (Neiswander) Nicewander born July 28, 1868, was christened Aug. 7, 1868, and died sometime shortly after that in Aug. of 1868 2 - Friederich Wilhelm (Neiswander) Nicewander was born June 10, 1870, was christened June 16, 1870 and died sometime during infancy in 1870. 3 - Benjamin Franklin Nicewander was born Aug. 16, 1871 (my great grandfather) He married Anna Biddle. He died February 5, 1955. He resided in Wilmot, OH at time of death. 4 - Friederich Wilhelm Nicewander (same name as 2nd child born) was born on Dec. 4, 1873. He married Minnie Rodenberger. He died on Dec. 18, 1945. 5 - Harry Washington Nicewander was born Dec. 27, 1875. He married Anna Leonard. He died on May 19, 1929. 6 - Charles Olandis (Nicewalter) Nicewander was born April 27, 1878. He married Lillie Smart. He died Dec. 12, 1954. 7 - John Henry Nicewander was born Aug. 28, 1880. He married Emma K. Weber. He died on Sept. 20, 1929. 8 - Carrie Della (Nicewanger) Nicewander was born Oct. 15, 1882. She married John H. Ehmer. She died April 19, 1951. 9 - Christopher Columbus (Niewander) Nicewander was born Oct. 13, 1884. He married Mary Weigand. He died on July 17, 1955. Benjamin Franklin (Sr.) & Anna Nicewander had 4 children: Benjamin Franklin (Jr.), Nora, John Daniel Leroy and Anne Germain. Benjamin(Jr.) married Ruby Marie Landis in 1937 and they had 7 children: Betty, Margaret, Virginia, Robert, Richard, Jeffrey, and Oscar. Oscar was killed in the Vietnam War in 1967 and Richard was killed in an auto. accident in 1982. My father was Richard, who married Mary Ann Bailey in 1968. my Great Grandfather Alex Welcome. He was b. March 17, 1894 in Finland. During the Civil war between Finland and Russia, Alex came to America. We are unsure if he came with a brother or followed his brother to America. They/He came to America in Abt. 1907-1908 they ported in New Yorks Ellis Island. When they arrived, Alex's Name was change to Welcome. Alex and his brother traveled to Canada where they worked as Loggers. When they had a falling out, Alex came back into America and Settled in Aiken County, Minnesota. Alex's Father's first name was Francis and his Mother's Given name was Josephine Alajoki. |

My gggrandfather was Casper Moll, gggrandmother Caroline Yitterest. They were from Badden Germany. Their daughter Katharine Rosanna Moll my ggrandma born June 1, 1867. She married Martin E. Shaffer. Katharine died about 1930 in Waverly Ohio. They were married July 4, 1885 in Circleville Ohio. They had the following children. Albert Joseph ( my grandfather) whom was born Nov 17, 1892 in Columbus, Ohio. There also was Ella,who married a Wolf, Mary who married a Lott, Edna who married Brungs, Clara whom married Friley, and set of twins Clarence and Lawrence. Albert married Mamie Irene Finn in 1922 in South Bend Indiana. They lived in South Bend In and Niles Mich area for years. Mamie Irene Finns father was Charles Finn, mother was Minnie E. Hamilton. Charles Finns father was John L Finn whom was born about 1845 in Salem Illinois. His mother was Sarah ?. Minnie Hamiltons father was Samuel Hamilton, mother was Rebecca Bortner born about 1846 in Richland Co Ohio. Samuel Hamilton was from Darke Co. Ohio. Rebecca Bortners father was George W Bortner, mother was Sarah Ann Ruhl. They were from York Co. Pa, moved to Ohio where Rebecca was born. |

May 25, 1912 d. April 09, 1935, d/o Myrtle Croyle from Fulton, Cambria County and William McKinney from Bedford County (Myrtle Croyle was later married to Lloyd C. Foor). Carl was born to this man (Chester Shaffer).Mary Martha Foor, Carl's mother, married Chester Alan Arthur Mellott, s/o Martin Van Buren Mellott and Caroline Lane, after the two children were born. Mary Foor and Chester Shaffer were not married. Mary brought two children into the marriage with Chester Mellott, which Chester adopted, Carl Stanley and Rose Rosetta(which their last name would have been Shaffer). Chester Mellott and Mary together had Pearl, Florence Loretta, Howard Thomas and Martha Louise all Mellotts\, making Carl and Rosetta Mellotts\ too.
