Origin of Ribb, Meaning of Ribb

Origin: The name Cribbs comes from two separate locations. The first Cribbs were actually 'Krebs' from Germany, especially in the Alcase-Lorraine area. The immigrated to the Pennsylvania area in the extreme early 1700's and then the later 1700's. There is another Cribbs line which is British in origin. It appears they started out with a spelling of 'Cribb' and then some lines changed to Cribbs later. They settled in the Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina areas.
