James Duncan was born in 1807 in Dunbartonshire, Scotland. In the 1830s as a young man he immigrated to Canada and settled in Dalhousie Township, Lanark County, Ontario. He married Jane Purdon, daughter of Robert Purdon and Jane Ferguson, around 1836. They has 13 children.

He also had a Sister Bassie Davis She is my Great Grand Aunt Richard & Mary - they called her Bambi had only one child my Grand Father Samuel Davis aka (Samuel Jofar) Born 1883,in Richmond, Virginia. He ran away from home and was able to pass as white; He joined the Merchant Marine and lived in Brazil with a Family named Jofar. After he returned to America and rejoined his family he told them that Davis was a Slave name and his free name was Jofar. He would never use that name again he was not a slave to any Man, His father did not like this and there were many family arguments about it. Samuel Jofar married Ella Pierman my Grandmother she was Born 1884 in Lynchburg, Virginia the Jofar & Davis family arrived in Phoenix, Arizona about 1915 Just before the Birth of my Mother Wyona Jofar-Beasley. Samuel Jofar Became one of the 1st Black Doctor's in the state of Arizona He was a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine His Office was located near 11th Street & Washington in Phoenix, Arizona He was also a Barber And I still can remember my 1st hair cut as a child. Richard & Mary Davis are buried at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona Samuel & Ella Jofar are buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona The Children of Samuel & Ella Jofar are: Wyona L. Daniel BAXTER came into USA in or around 1778. He was born In Ireland or Scotland Circa 1758. He married Sarah CARY in Menham, Morris,New Jersey in 1780. Was bound over to the Govenor in 1778 with a John BAXTER (possibly a brother). After Sarah CARYs father died, the will was probated in 1799, they moved to Washington County Pennsylvania. The following is a list of there children. John, Samuel, Esther, Rebecca, Nancy, Pacey most were born in New Jersey, also Daniel, and James W. who were born in the Washington County Pennsylvaia area. Later the boys migrated to Knox County Ohio. John settled in Knox County while Samuel moved on to Ross County Ohio and then to Allen County Ohio. DAVE: Isaac BALLENGEE, I seems to be the patriarch of the BALLENGEE families of VA/WV. I am looking for any information about Isaac's children (there were 7). What little information that I have follows: My Great-Grandfather was Anthony B. ACHEY and he was married to Nora GASSET. My Grandfather, Paul Rufus ACHEY, was one of 11 children and was born in Myerstown, PA on June 15, 1902. Other children's names are: Henry, Kathryn, Edith, Herman, Levi, Sarah, Raymond, Adeline. My grandfather moved to Davenport, Iowa where he married Hilda NISSEN.
