The BAUGNIET family immigrated from Mehaigne, Belgium in 1856. Clement and Augustine (PAQUET) Baugniet sailed with their sons, Florent, Francois and Frederic, (my great grandfather) to the United States and eventually settled in Wisconsin, in the Mishicot area of Manitowoc County. Frederick BAUGNIET was born 8 Jul 1855, died 19 Apr 1931. Florent Baugniet changed the spelling of his name to BOUGNEIT and settled in Niagara, Wisconsin and at some point moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin. |

Janna L Babcock - InterneTree my father's family, the Martins were from Lewiston, Maine. His mother's maiden name was Dulac. Her mother's maiden name was Arnoldy. Their families came from France to Quebec and Acadia in the 1600's and 1700's. my mother's family, surname Kvernvik. They came from Norway in 1906. Her mother came from Norway around that time also, my grandmother's surname was Mathisen. My husband's family is also from Maine. The Babcock's settled in Bangor. His paternal great grandmother was a decendent of Abraham Somes who settled in Somesville on Mt. Desert Island, Maine, in the late 1700's. My husband's mother's family, the Ernst's came from Brooklyn, New York, and Switzerland. My ancestors on my Father's side, ASCHENBRENNER, are primarily German, from an area near Passau, in Bavaria, and they arrived in Saskatchewan, Canada in 1910. On my Mother's paternal side SCHMITZ, from near Trier, Germany, and on my mother's maternal side, there is the KACZMAREK (KATZMAREK) name from Poland. My mother's Family arrived in the USA in the 1880's, settling in the Melrose, MN area, and then moved to Saskatchewan in 1905. My Wife's father's side starts with Pierre FALCON, born 1735 at St. Quentin, in the diocese of Beauvais, Picardie. France, arriving at Bais St. Paul, PQ and in 1763, marrying a fourth-generation Canadian woman, Marie-Genevieve TREMBLAY. The trail moves to l'Acadie, PQ, and then, with the Fur Trade, to the North West Territories (Manitoba today). On her Mother's side of the Family Tree, it starts with John PRITCHARD, born 1777/8 from Shrewsbury, England and John SAYER, of the Fur Trade. |

THE MORASSE FAMILY: I was born in Chatham, Ontario and raised in Wallaceburg, Ontario. My name was Mary Elaine Morasse, but I've always been called Elaine. I was born March 31, 1947. My sisters were: Delores Yvonne born September 14, 1939, Christina Joan born August 6, 1941 and Marie Louise Constance born on December 19, 1943. My father was Christian Morasse born January 12, 1914 in Chambly Basin, Quebec. My mother was Margaret Roseanne Leveille born April 7, 1917 in Montebello, Quebec. They were married November 19, 1938 in Wallaceburg, Ontario. My grandfather was George Morasse born July 4, 1887 in Montreal, Quebec. He married Marie Louise Lanouette who was born January 29, 1878 in Quebec. George died on January 23, 1931 in Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, New York. George's father was Charles Edmond Morasse born May 17, 1862 in Sorel, Quebec. His father was Louis Morasse born September 16, 1837 in St. Pierre-de-Sorel, Que. Louis married Henriette Pouliot on January 7, 1857. Louis died Oct. 23, 1903. Louis Morasse was the mayor of Sorel from 1892 to 1898. We know that Louis' parents were Christophe Morasse and Catherine Beland, married August 4, 1835. We also know that Christophe's father was Christophe Morasse and his mother was Margeurite Reau. Catherine's father was Louis Beland and her mother was Louise Bonin/Laplante. The original family name was spelled Moras. |
