Casares Family of South Texas
The Casares family first appears in south Texas in 1870. Policarpio Casares married Genoveva Valdez in San Ignacio, Texas. Their marriage record states they were both natives of Mexico. They had four, possibly six children: Gregorio, Donaciano, Clara, Benita, Agueda, and Juan. Of the six children, only Donaciano can be located. He married Santos Ramon de Alanis in Cotulla, Texas in 1913. They had three children: Policarpio, Encarnacion, and Benito. Only one of these three siblings is still living. Gerardo Almaguer-Cavazos) in the U.S. We come from a small town called El Cercado located near Santiago, Nuevo Leon. Most of my remaining family still lives there with the exception of a few who now live in Texas. My paternal grandparents were Jose Ruperto Almaguer and Dolores Cavazos-Saenz.
