Martin Mellinger returned to Liditz, PA in 1863 after his medical discharge from the Army in Ohio. By 1865 Martin is in Stephenson Co, Illinois and marries Anna Sellers, also of PA. They have three daughter together, Mary, Sarah, and Emma Elizabeth. Emma and Sarah list Princeton Indiana as their place of birth. Sometime after Emma's birth in 1873, Martin and Anna divorced. my Great Grandfather Alex Welcome. He was b. March 17, 1894 in Finland. During the Civil war between Finland and Russia, Alex came to America. We are unsure if he came with a brother or followed his brother to America. They/He came to America in Abt. 1907-1908 they ported in New Yorks Ellis Island. When they arrived, Alex's Name was change to Welcome. Alex and his brother traveled to Canada where they worked as Loggers. When they had a falling out, Alex came back into America and Settled in Aiken County, Minnesota. Alex's Father's first name was Francis and his Mother's Given name was Josephine Alajoki. |

He immigrated to North America in August 1981. With him traveled his bride-to-be Maria Hannebaum. Maria Hannebaum's family lived in the Belleville and Millstadt, IL areas. Following Maria's death, Henry Althoff married Charlotte Schilling Weber. She was the daughter of Carl F.G. Schilling and Carolina Stuhmeier. Carl Schilling geb. 8.4.1820 in Volmerdingsen, Germany and Wilhelmine Caroline Charlotte Stuhmeier geb. 5.9. 1829 in Volmerdingsen, immigrated to America in 1883.
