Origin of Ode, Meaning of Ode
Origin: According to the New World Book of Schroeders, 'the surname Schroeder appears to be occupational in origin. Our research indicates that it can be associated with the Germans, meaning, 'one who made garments; a tailor; one who drove a dray; a drayman.' Although this interpretation is the result of onomastic research , you may find other meanings for the Schroeder family name.

Origin of Ode, Meaning of Ode
Origin: The surnames 'Node', 'Noad', 'Noade', 'Nodes' or 'Noades' are all thought to be derived from the Old English 'atten Ode', meaning 'by the / next to the burial mound'.
The oldest record of such a name refers to a man called 'Node' in the county of Herfordshire in the UK in the 13th Century. There is still a place called 'Node' in Hertfordshire where Tumuli (ancient burial mounds) can be found in a Wood.

Origin of Ode, Meaning of Ode
Origin: The surname, Attwood is derived from a locative mediaeval bye-name, i.e. originating from a place name, such as -hill, -ford, -brook -well and of course -wood. The name would therefore appear to mean, "dweller at or near a wood". The Oxford Dictionary of English Surnames (Oxford University Press, 1997) gives the following definition: "Attwood, Atwood: Attewode 1243...Robert Atwode 1457...'Dweller by the wood' OE wudu." The name is made up of the most common preposition at, (Old English ǽt) which coalesced with the definite article the, to form the obsolete preposition atte, (Middle English) together with the Old English wudu, wiodu, wudu, wude, wode, wodd, woode, uud etc. (Oxford English Dictionary, 1989 Clarendon Press). Some documented variations in spelling are Attwood, Atte-Wode, Atwood, Atwode, Attewode Attwode, Attewoode, Atwod, Atwud, Atud , Attwool, de Bois, deBoys, (French) and de Bosco (Latin) and many more!
Surnames: Attwood, Atte-Wode, Atwood, Atwode, Attewode Attwode, Attewoode, Atwod, Atwud, Atud , Attwool, de Bois, deBoys, (French) and de Bosco (Latin) and many more!

Origin of Ode, Meaning of Ode
Origin: Borodell would appear to be a corruption or alternate spelling of Borrowdale, a small area in the English county of Cumberland, which does square with the supposed origin of John Borodell before he appears in Ireland in the 1600s. Could he have been one of the people 'planted' by Queen Elizabeth I in Ireland, given land for their loyal service to the crown?
Surnames: descendant of Denison/borodell
