Origin: Although origination of the surnames Cloer & Clore may have had different backgrounds, both surnames have undergone many changes since in America. Many times due to the way the person or the census taker or other person recording it "thought" it was spelled. Cloer, one of our main lines, is found in our family as Cloer, Clore, Cloar. Note these are of the same line but with different spellings. Also the war records reveal that many went in with "aliases" or were known 2 different ways. Cloer was often spelled McClure, Clore, Clure, Cloar just to name a few
