Origin of Mcshane Total Records: 1  Origin of Mcshane, Meaning of Mcshane Origin: My mother has done a geneology research on the Surname Shane and found that our name comes from Ireland as McShane. She no longer has the documentation for that claim but I would be thrilled to look that up again. She is still alive and quite able to help me relocate the proof of this. Aparently when my family left Irland, they disaccociated themselves with Irland by removing the Mc- from the name Shane. Thus the sir name becoming Shane.
