His great-grandmother was a Montgomery. Heinrich Felix Merckel is the oldest ancestor I've been able to find so far. He was born in Germany in 1643. He came to New York to escape persecution by the French (my wife's ancestors!). The name Merckel became Miracle, as in the town of Miracle, Kentucky. Cindy's family tree is pretty big, mainly because we've traced her back to European royalty.
