Doreen McMillan Family Tree my paternal grandmother's father was Charles Robert Johnston, he was a river-driver & drowned at work on the Spanish River near Nairn Centre, Ontario. There apparently was a poem written about the tragedy which was later set to music & called The Ballad of Robert Johnston. |

William DeGrummond's father was born about 1770, supposedly in France. His father moved to Philadelphia in the 1790s where he married a Julia Johnston. He had at least one child, William, born in 1792 (0r 1796). William fought for the United States in the War of 1812. He spent some time in Michigan in the early 1820s, and in New York in the mid to late 1820s. He married Julia Corbit of Welland, Ontario, in 1824, in Erie, NY.
