The actual spelling was Kramer with the Umlout.( Two dots over the "A",E (is pronounce as a long "A"or AE in german is then pronounced as a long "A" also. Kramer with out the two dots is pronounced something like a short O. Kraemer in german means a merchant or store owner, were as Kramer (without the umlout is a junk merchant ( the on the used to ride up and down the street asking people to through down their unwanted things and then he would sell them as used items.
