The D. Edwin Green Davis Family Home Page
D. Edwin Green Davis was born March 11, 1851 in Roanoke, Alabama and died April 15, 1943 in Dubberly, Louisiana. He was married first to L. Fannie Wright on November 4, 1877 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. They had one son named Tillman Leroy who was born November 1, 1878. Fannie died around 1881 and was buried on the side of a hill near the Coosa Dam. Edwin next married Mary Ann Mollie Cross on April 2, 1882 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Mary Ann was born November 30, 1860 in Roanoke, Alabama and died December 8, 1939 in Dubberly, Louisiana. She was the first born child of Henry J. Cross and Martha Ann Dutton who married on January 1, 1860 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. 1. William Monroe Will was born April 30, 1883 in Coosa County, Alabama and died June 30, 1927 in Dubberly, Louisiana. He was married first to Mary Mollie Pearson Hunter on May 11, 1907 in Winnfield, Louisiana. It is not known where he and Mary Ann divorced, but he next married Lula Florence Doyle on June 15, 1926 in Orange County, Texas. 2. Carrie was born February 5, 1887 in Coosa Co Alabama and died May 3, 1971 in Dry Prong, Louisiana. She was married in Talladega County, Alabama on October 25, 1904 to Ross Mitchell who was born August 25, 1885 in Alabama and died April 6, 1941 in Dry Prong, Louisiana. 3. Cora Elizabeth was born June 3, 1890 in Coosa County, Alabama and died June 21, 1979 in Jamestown, Louisiana. He was married January 23, 1916 in Chilton County, Alabama to Laura Eugene Elymra Blow who was born February 9, 1898 in Alabama and died February 15, 1959 in Minden, Louisiana. 5. Fletcher Arnold was born September 12, 1897 in Coosa County, Alabama and died June 1981 in Minden, Louisiana. He was married first to Hicksie Giles on February 18, 1917 in Chilton County, Alabama. They divorced after he moved to Louisiana and he married Elizabeth Tiny Simms whom he met in Texas. 6. Nora was born 25 May 1899 in Coosa County, Alabama and died in Minden, Louisiana. She married John Robinson on April 19, 1917 in Chilton Co. Alabama. Edwin's sons Leroy and Will were the first to come to Louisiana. Next came Carrie and husband Ross Mitchell who finally settled in Dry Prong. Gradually all the family moved to Winnfield, Louisiana where all of the men worked as loggers. Edwin and wife, Mary Ann, moved to Louisiana in their late years in 1918 or 1919 and lived near sons Leroy and Will. Edwin, Charley, and their families moved back to Alabama in 1924 or 1925 and then returned to Louisiana in 1927 in a covered wagon. They couldn't seem to make up their mind where they wanted to live. I have been unable to find D. Edwin Green Davis on any census until 1880 when he was married to L. Fannie Wright Davis.
