The Beatys and Littles of Ireland and India
BEATY I am researching the BEATY family, originally from Ireland. From family folklore Francis BEATY was born in Tullamore, Ireland in 1757 . Francis and his wife Catherine gave birth to three sons, John, Francis and Henry, probably in Stoke Damerel, Devon, while he served in the Royal Navy. In 1820 Francis and 1821 Henry, joined the Honourable East India Company Army as Cadets in Bengal, India. The elder son of Francis, named Francis Henry BEATY, and his wife Caroline Ophelia (n?e Sheels), had fifteen children all born in India. Five of the sons served in the Indian Police. The Beaty family finally left India in 1948. The cities in India and Pakistan that feature in the family history are Lahore, Jhansie, Karachi, Landour, Mussoorie, Quetta, Rawlpindi and Simla. LITTLE/LYTTLE I am also researching the LITTLE/LYTTLE family from Northern Ireland. In 1839 Andrew LITTLE was born in the Parish of Montiaghs, Lurgan, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, to Thomas and Mary (n?e Wilson) LITTLE. In 1858 he joined the 27th Inniskilling Regiment and sailed to India. He remained in India and retired from the army in 1894. He died in Dehra Dun, India in 1926. He had five children Mary Anne, Thomas Wilson, William John (my grandfather) Edward and Andrew. The surname spelling changed to LYTTLE with the children. The cities in India/Pakistan that feature in the family history are Dehra Dun, Jhansie, Karachi,Lahore, Meerut, North West Province,Peshawar and Simla. Peter Beaulieu Family Tree of Chippewa County, Wisconsin
Peter Beaulieu, born December 16, 1852 in Canada. He married Rose Wardell on April 06, 1879 and settled in Chippewa County, WI. He is my great-great grandfather. His father and grandfather were both named Peter as well. Hall family, my grandmother Lamina Rose Hall (b. July 17, 1917) married my grandfather Aldwin John Beaulieu (b. July 08, 1916) September 25, 1937. Lamina's mother's name was Eva Hall. |

They lived originally in Greenwich Village, NY, and later some lived in Brooklyn, NY. Luke was in the laundry business. MOORE family from Ireland. TIMOTHY MOORE (1864-1928) was born in Garryheaken, Co. Limerick. He emigrated to US and lived in Red Hook section of Brooklyn. He married MARGARET ENGLISH in 1888 there and had six children. His six siblings were Margaret, John, Thomas, Patrick, Michael, William Moore. Their parents were THOMAS MOORE and CATHERINE RYAN. CHARLES A. HENNIS, born in 1841 in either Canada, England or Ireland? He emigrated to US in 1970 from Canada, was naturalized in 1874 and married MARGARET IRWIN OR IRVING of either Canada or NY. They lived on Columbus Ave. NYC per 1900 Census. Most of their descendants live in New Jersey. |

The Arthur-Kelly-Cashen families of Baltimore Maryland
John Pierce Arthur immigrated to the United States with his wife and three children in 1849. In Matchett?s Baltimore Directory for 1853 it is noted that he was a woolen factor and lived at 71 Potter. He died in Baltimore, MD in 1853 at age 35 of typhoid pneumonia. He was buried on the 9th of March in St. Patrick?s Cemetery Yard, Fells Point. John P. Arthur was born in Castle Connell, County Limerick, Ireland; his wife Maria Maroney was born in County Clare; their parents were in the Wool business; they came to ?America? in 1849, first arriving in New Orleans and then to Baltimore in 1850 where they lived on Hawk Street; three children were born in County Clare (J. Thomas Arthur, Elizabeth Arthur Frederick, and Frank Arthur). Elizabeth Frist Gutman, (Bess Gutman) was the daughter of Margaret Ann Arthur Frist. Margaret Ann was born in Baltimore in 1850. The earliest documentation of the Arthur family is the passenger list of the ship Forfarshire that sailed from Liverpool, England and arrived in New Orleans on December 28, 1948. The ship?s register shows the names of John (30) and Mary Arthurs (30), Anne Arthurs (32), James Arthurs (20), Thomas (7), Bridget (5) and Francis (3). While the register shows that the ship arrived in New Orleans on Dec 28, 1848 a close examination indicates that the ship?s register was completed on that date at Liverpool. Arrival in New Orleans would probably have been four or five weeks later in February 1849. It is believed that Bridget Arthurs was Elizabeth Arthur Frederick. Although later accounts point to her birth in New Orleans our research concludes that she was born in Ireland. The conclusion is that many females received the name Bridget when they were born in Ireland and her name was also Elizabeth. The Kelly family emigrated from Ireland to Philadelphia PA. Anna Clark Kelly came from Newry, Co Down, where she was educated in a convent school. She came to this country with her sister who remained in Philadelphia. Thomas Kelly came from CO Louth in Ireland. Thomas and Anna met in this country and were married in Philadelphia. Three children were born in Philadelphia (Mary Jane-1857; Thomas J. -1859 and John-1862). Four more children were born after they moved to Baltimore. Thomas Kelly Sr. had a fashionable Shoe Shop on Centre Street near the present St. Ignatius. A Baltimore City Directory for 1896 shows ?Kelly Thos, shoemkr. 111 E. Centre, h 907 E Chase?. In 1871 and 1872 he was shown as living at 189 Chesnut St. The family also lived on Hillen Street near the Belair Market before they moved to Chase Street. The families of Lacey and Holden besides the Arthurs are direct descendants of this family. Richard Cashen came to this country in 1915 through Ellis Island. He was born in County Tipperary, Ireland in a town called Templederry. He was one of ten children. Seven children came to the US and three remained in Ireland. The Alenduff Family from Attica, Indiana originated from Frederick Alenduff that was killed by Miami Indians in the Miami Valley of Ohio. Frederick's second son Nicholas born December 4, 1793 was renamed Frederick after his father was killed. Frederick Alenduff married Nancy Ann Meredith, a young lady of German extraction. \r\nOn November 2, 1828 they moved to Davis Township, Fountain County, Indiana from Butler County, Ohio. Frederick entered 80 acres of land at $1.25 per acre. He later acquired 73 acres and 36 acres at different times. On this farm nine of the eleven children grew to maturity.
