Hucks & Aceves Family Home Page
We are researching information on the following families: Hucks/Hux in England and United States; Aceves in California, Mexico & Spain; Cameron and Gilroy in Scotland and England; Murcek in Illinois and Poland; and Lucas of Norton & Wise Virginia. Our families were among the first colonists of both the East and West coasts of the United States. The Huckses arrived at Jamestown, Virginia in 1632 and settled across the river in Surry. John Hucks (Hux) married Jane, the daughter of Thomas Gray, who was one of the first Jamestown colonists. My line of Huckses eventually found their way to Conway, South Carolina. \r\n\r\nThe Aceves family is closely linked to John Gilroy, namesake of the town of Gilroy, CA. He was originally named Cameron and was born in Scotland. His wife's grandfather, Jose Francisco Ortega, was a member of the Portola Expedition and history acknowledges him as the discoverer of San Francisco Bay. \r\n\r\n |
