my great-grandparents, GEORGE HENRY HUNTER and JANE LEWIS. Their daughter and my grandmother, MARGARET GRACE HUNTER was born in Swansea, Wales, Dec 23, 1879. George Hunter and Jane Lewis died in 1912 and 1927 respectively. They had 3 daughters, Ada, Florence and Bessie, and 1 son, Hayden, all of whom I believe were older than their sister Margaret Hunter. I believe they spent most, if not all of their lives in Swansea in Wales. EILEEN AGNES ELEASE DAVIES was born in 1910 in Newport, County of Gwent, Wales. she had at least 3 children, one of whom died at an early age. Richard Lewis Ahrens
Henry Ahrens was a tailor by trade, came to America in 1847 (w/brother or son?), returning to Prussia (Rothenfel or Bad Rothenfelde a small town near Minden, Germany.),in 1848, and the following year brought his family to this country, settling in Pike County, PA., January, 1850. Thence he removed to Big Flats, New York later to Elmira, the same state, and from there to Pennsylvania. In 1864 he came to Washington County IL., where he and his wife both died. They had seven children. Two sons served in the civil war: William, who was a member of Company M, Sixth Penna. Cavalry; and Frederick, a soldier in the third PA.
