Michael Kellar and Catharine Monroe of Fairfax County, Virginia 1760-2002 authored by Susan Kellar Ratcliffe
Michael Kellar was born in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia around 1760, possibly in the Strasburg community. He married Catharine Monroe, the second cousin of President James Monroe. They had 9 children of record and were residents of Fairfax County until their deaths in 1816 and 1825, respectively.

The book researches the families of the 5 children known to have had children. Two daughters, Catharine E. and Margaret, married the Hatton brothers, Benjamin and Boling. Catharine and Benjamin remained in VA; Margaret and Boling moved west to Ohio with her younger brother, Michael, Jr., and his family. Elizabeth married Jacob Miller, and Scottie married Isaac Borum. The Millers and Borums were residents of Strasburg in Shenandoah County and are buried there. With time these families spread across the continent ? eventually settling in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, California, Oregon and Washington.
