Origin of Gyngell Total Records: 1  Origin of Gyngell, Meaning of Gyngell Origin: Earliest records reveal that in 1273 Michael de Gingedale held tenure of land owned by monks of Glastonbury, Somerset that remained in the family until 1664. During this five century period members of the family moved, via the Manor of Garsdon, to Wiltshire and neighbouring counties. Some variation in the spelling of the name occurred, but by the early 17th Century Gingdale, Gyngel, Gyngle and ultimately Gingell were names closely connected with districts where the majority of the family where landowners, farmers and yeomen.
