Chris Balston's Family Home Page
feudal Dorset and its yeoman farmers (the Balstons), to maritime Fifeshire at the time of King James 111 (the Woods, who number among their ilk the celebrated sea Admiral Sir Andrew Wood of Largo and the renowned Victorian explorer Captain John Wood), to the Tower of London in the early eighteenth century and its tipple loving Master Armourer John Grimer, and to rural Gloucestershire where my earliest traced Trinder ancestor is found farming in Bishops Cleeve, Nr. Cirencester. Later travels in time brought me to the Pinwills of Ermington, Devonshire, including The Reverend Edmund Pinwill and his seven highly talented daughters who set up their own carving business. Their ancesters included the Rashleighs of Menabilly, Cornwall including Jonathan Rashleigh of Civil War fame, made famous by Daphne Du Maurier's novel The King's General. The Hampshire, Buckelew, Adams and O\Rourke Home Page
My Hampshire and Buckelew families are well researched. The Hampshire name is fully documented back to probably the first born in America in 1756. The Buckelew line is even more robust back to the emmigrant ancestor, Francis Buckelew, who entered the new world in New Jersey in 1640 from France. Beyond that the family history extends back to the origins of the name in the 11 th century in Scotland (John Scott of Buccleuch) who was granted land from Robert the Bruce, the first king of independent Scotland in the year 1228! My Adams line is pretty good back to Richard W. Adams, living in Montreal, Quebec in the 1850's. I have not yet started researching this line in earnest. \r\nThe O\Rourke line, including the Mulligan family name comes from Ireland in about 1880. I haven\t really looked into them yet.\r\nTHe report which is included on this page now is for the descendants of Richard W. Adams, b before 1840 in Montreal, Quebec.\r\nOther surnames I am interested in include Gaffney and Lowden in Michigan. \r\n |
